UFC attempt to Gaslight us into thinking Anthony Smith was a Legend, is a Microcosm of its Current State.

Stipe and Dana didn't get along since way back when Stipe was champ.
Dana always have issues with people he could not control. Also those who did not need the largesse of the UFC to make ends meet.

This is like the 10th or 20th thread since last night complaining about Smith. We get it, you don't like him, you won't have to see his fights anymore, he's retired.

I hope they give him a full-time job as an analyst/commentator just to piss the haters off.

No send off for Chuck, Shogun, Nog, Stipe, Aldo, GSP, Hendo, Randy, Vitor, Weidman, Rockhold, Hughes, BJ, Edgar, Khabib, Cowboy....

Most disappointing of all was no send off for CM Punk or Andre Gusmao, though

They were definitely taking the piss with that tribute package. And you know why. Because he didn't take the DQ win and belt from Jones when he had the chance to, he acted like a company bitchboy instead and this is his thanks in return.. a tribute video and a kick out the door. Bro is losing that ESPN job as soon as their media deal is up, he's going to be in BKFC by this time next year.

Stipe being the "GOAT HW" was just a marketing ploy to bolster Jones' legacy when he won. The fact he didnt get a nice send off is proof of that fact. Nobody ever actually believed it. Stipe isnt a legend either like TS says.

with Smith they corrected it, now Jones has another legend's scalp under his belt.

Nahhhh

See I used to think he just got a bad rap, but nope. Dude really brought it all on himself with his delusional hot takes and the UFC deciding to strap a rocket to him, makes it all the worse.

"I just don't see any way Ankalaev can beat me"

"Poatan will never say my name cos he knows he don't want none of this"

Lolllllllllll

I'm very confused why a guy who works as an analyst and works directly with the production team and is probably good friends with a lot of them got given a good video package and send off from the production team he's friends with.

Total mystery.

im mirroring what we are all thinking.

the UFC giving such a send-off to chickenheart compared to other (former) fighters who actually were legends such as Stipe who was just sent off with a coupon for KFC, a discount to Radio Shack and a fortune cookie, is an illustration of an industry in serious cross-roads, to put it nicely.

which also tells you it insults the intelligence of its viewers by what we saw last night.

They are actually doing the guy a disservice by trying to make him out to be something he most definitely is not.

It's a fuckin joke at this point.

Yeah that was a bit cringe. A send off is fine given his role outside the cage, but they laid it on pretttty thick. Not my cup of tea.

I kept hearing about this “legend” throughout the broadcast. It was one of the most ridiculous things the UFC has done, imo.

Anthony Smith basically invented the Corpse Guard: walking forward with your hands around your head letting your opponents unload on you without really throwing anything back.

How could such a man not be considered a legend?

And the whole "what you say about my family?!!?" In the fight.

The dude is such a fucking cornball.

He makes himself impossible to like, he's made himself a laughingstock

It's their way of rewarding their shills. The circle outside the inner circle. Dana privilege.

Arlovski? I mean I don't even begrudge Smith getting a good send off...he did ok...but man Andre, Stipe...so many others that got nothing. Agree it doesnt seem right. So did Stipe officially retire?

Arlovski didn't want one, he wasn't even retiring.

Stipe, I think didn't give a shit. Didn't really have a great relationship with the UFC anyway.

Anthony is a company man, he did favors for UFC and Dana, took short notice fights, worked as a broadcaster etc... stop being surprised that UFC works on favoritism.
