Mentioning him does nothing for his stock, it's literally a part of history.

Interesting! A promoter, doesn't want to bring up the name a former fighter they use to promote.....that is currently being promoted by another promoter and competitor. And right before the fighter they are promoting now is about to fight who lost to that fighter.

I'd bet money this is their way to avoid legal exposure given how acrimonious the split between the UFC and Francis was. It's a partial explanation. The other half is probably Dana's rank pettiness.

Just because there's a 'contract' doesn't mean Francis can't SUE. The contract just makes litigation harder and more expensive for both parties.

The UFC will continue to be bush league and looked at as a carnival coming to town instead of a real sport as long as its run this way. You can't get a seat at the table being this petty and self-serving.

It's why UFC fighters are always looking at boxing paydays.

High level boxing is a game of complex promotion and negotiation that Dana would crumble under. The paydays are an order of magnitude higher.

The UFC will always play 2nd fiddle, and Dana knows it. He has nightmares about 'Canelo PPV' fucking up his schedule.

Name/brand recognition is the most important part of marketing. Every time they name the dude in a positive manner, especially in a promotional video, it helps the competition.
