It's been a rule for 20+ years. It was always explained to me by refs during the rules meetings, even back in 2008 when I was fighting

Sure, I'm not even disputing it, I'm saying the wording is appallingly bad.

There's no real reason or excuse for it to be such shitty English.

Outside of Whittaker who is half Samoan yeah, they seem like a lazy bunch only relying on their power.
Yeah. The only ones I can think of that actually bothered to learn any kind of grappling defense is Rob like you said and Hunto.

From now on I'll always know Tafa as the dude who verbally tapped, acted butthurt about it, and couldn't manage more than a lame girly slap afterwards. What a tool. Represents the modern day emasculation of Australia perfectly.
It was a weird weak slap. Almost like a joke slap with friends.
At least Daley has a closed fist

What if a ligament snaps and the fighter yells in pain due to shock without thinking to yell tap? That’s why that rule is there.

Does that apply when striking? If a fighter breaks his hand and yells, is that a sub?

Fuck Tafa, he lost me as a fan in any future fight

Low IQ, shit perm having mofo
Yep the slap after the fight was total low class. It’s also crazy how many people in the UFC apparently don’t know that screaming in pain is a verbal tap. DC, Dom, Anik, Tafa…

You are technically supposed to scream that you don't want it to continue

I don't believe the rule was made to cover every grunt or scream
it became popular knowledge after perez vs. albert back in the day. exact same situation. i wish you were right but no, the ref can just stop the fight if you scream.
