It's been a rule for 20+ years. It was always explained to me by refs during the rules meetings, even back in 2008 when I was fighting

Like DC said, that looks like verbal submission to him, and i agree with him tho, yelling in pain is part of the rules and Tafa was being an asshole behaving like that after, almost everytime they act surprised fight got stopped.

What if a ligament snaps and the fighter yells in pain due to shock without thinking to yell tap? That’s why that rule is there.

Does that apply when striking? If a fighter breaks his hand and yells, is that a sub?
