UFC 302: Makhachev vs. Poirier

Yeah maybe Vettori we'd call a very capable MW wrestler too?

Anyway, Kopylov is a good striker but I think at least some of why he's looked really good at times is because of who he's striking against. Almeida has beaten some of the best kickboxers in the world. Because he is one. MMA is different, maybe that matters here in a way I'm not thinking of but I think we see the difference in levels here between a good striker and an elite one.
One thing is for sure, this is the fight we'll see if Cesar's striking translates to MMA.

I don't think Salvador was ever elite in KB, but his showing in Contender Series last year was pretty shocking given how easy he got ran through by Oki on the feet. There's also Wilnis as a more recent KB export that is now a negative record MMA fighter, another KB that failed to make the cut last year was Belgaroui.

MMA you just can't take decorated backgrounds at face value some times.

For sure it's not a guarantee that elite specialists translate. KB, grappling, anything. I **think** I've seen enough from Almeida to say he's gonna be successful in MMA for a bit but maybe I get proven wrong.

Yeah he really might trash Kopylov for sure. Prove me wrong. Ive doubted and played against Poatan too. Its a different world. Show them levels. Im not advicing a play on either side just my two cents and who Im gonna play.

I stopped betting a long time ago but my predictions have become much more accurate since I quit betting.
I am now seeing the patterns.

Here are my thoughts:

My head tells me that
Islam wins
Stickland wins

But my guts tell me that
Islam wins
Stickland loses

Here is why I think this way.
1. UFC is 100% rigged.
2. You can't rig khabib's team fights (the only team that doesn't accept rigging)
a. but they are not in abu dhabi anymore so, islam could lose due to lack of protection from the mobs
b. in abu dhabi, dana would be beheaded 100% by saudi princes for messing with the game
c. but all in all, khabib's team cannot be paid off

So anyone who knows anything about MMA probably went strickland and islam parlay.
They most likely went in HEAVY!
This would ruin many gambling houses that would murder Dana.
So the most logical decision would be to pay off Strickland.
I mean you saw last time what happened when UFC didn't pay off Strickland... he beat Izzy.
He beat or tied with DDP but was robbed of his title due to the heavy betting on strickland side.

So the most probable outcome is Islam and Costa (strickland getting robbed of the win again).
If Islam and Stickland wins, this means that UFC did not rig this match and it is hard to believe that UFC is not rigged.
I've been in this exact situation and lost so much money.
I am still not going to bet but just betting on Islam isnt exciting enough. The odds are just so bad.

all in all
1) bet islam and strickland parlay if you feel that UFC is not rigged
2) bet islam and costa parlay if you feel that UFC is rigged
*poirier winning is just not possible

between demopoulos and joselyne edwards I'm not sure who's had more bullshit decisions in the ufc

Cesar now the favorite over Kopylov. Who ever could've seen that coming?

**Raises hand**

Like I said to Stat Collector, this is EXACTLY the type opponent you'd give a striking specialist from K-1 to build him up. A solid guy that prefers to strike but doesn't have the pedigree or skills standing that the "new" guy does. I put "new" in quotes because Almeida is 35 so while he is new to the UFC, they will need to fast track him to make him relevant quickly if they're gonna get any juice out of him. Kopylov is a legit opponent that Almeida can (should imo) beat and maybe look impressive doing it. Then he gets a ranked guy later this year and they try to put him on the same path as Poatan.
I agree.

1. He fought 2 wrestlers in his last 2 fights and they could not do anything to him

2.In in his last 2 kickboxing fights he won and beat the living hell out of the number 2 MW kickboxer on the planet. More so, one year ago he fought p4p number 1 kickboxer on the planet and he got robbed pretty badly.

Kopylov cannot win this fight. And yeah, I know it's not kickboxing, but there are levels to this shit, and kopylov was tooled and destroyed on the feet by a former 0-3 kickboxer Karl Roberson. This fight is a mismatch.

Khabib literally took Crypto money and evaded taxes.

You mixing rigged with variance. Nothing is ever linear.

Unless we talk about illuminati or God rigging the fights then I agree

I still cant believe Im going to become a millionaire tomorrow thanks to Dustin poirier. I always knew the day was coming since I was a little boy. June 1st 2024. Im exiting the Matrix tomorrow and entering a new tax bracket. My hard work will finally pay off. All the sleepless nights will be worth it

The standard of these betting topics really have nosedived over the years (still a few very good posters though, albeit sadly in dwindling supply) but this year especially it feels like more often than not I'm browsing here and leaving the thread fearing I've had a stroke because a lot of posts are just mentalist gibberish.

No idea what people get out of wasting their time posting stuff like this. It makes the main UFC Discussion forum seem like a haven of reasonable posters and Naked Lunch seem like a rational and sane book in comparison.

In theory I think Almeida should beat Kopylov soundly but I've been watching some of his kickboxing fights and he has very poor cardio for a high level striker. Just watched him borderline gas out in the 2nd round after hunting for the finish and that was in a 9 minute fight in a sport he's competed in for a decade. Still favor him and those calf kicks are BRUTAL but am going to have to pass unfortunately, thought I was going to place a bet on him.

You'd think he'd have gassed badly last fight having to defend off his back for a round last fight then, right? Especially being a kickboxer vs a grappler? Bit he came out fresh rd 2 and smoked the dude.

That's a good point, but still passing.

Yeah there's some unknowns so I can't blame you. I think when Cesar was the dog there was absolutely value but now...maybe passing makes sense.
