I don't get why people dismiss Olinik as being an ancient washed up has been at 43, but Cormier at 42 isn't seen as people substantially eroded from his prime. I know not everyone ages the same but Cormier is still in his 40's however you want to cut it.

The guy Burns is fighting has like... 13 losses? Damn. Not matching Burn's particularly hard are they?

With Aleksei it's more the mma mileage. He has 3 times as many pro fights with 74 to DC's 24. I do think DC might be a little past his prime but Stipe isn't exactly a spring chicken either. I'm thinking about betting Stipe though, I don't think DC has the cardio for a wrestling heavy approach.

Thing is, the Boa Constrictors losses have almost all been in the first round. You can say he's got a weak chin, gets caught cold before he's warmed up, whatever. So he doesn't take prolonged beatings in there. Similar to Arvolski in that regard.

I would argue someone like Junior Dos Santos has just as much mileage as Aleksei to be honest. I thought I was going to see someone die in the ring watching the second and third Cain fights.

DC isn't the same fight age as Alexei, but you're right in that he's not THAT far off. People think it's the actual time in the cage and what happens there. It's actually more the training and what it does to your body.

Alexei has had a ton more fight camps but DC wrestled competitively into his 30's. And that training beats the hell out of you too.

Chin-wise DC is likely in better shape than Alexei though by a decent amount. He's taken a fair amount less brain trauma.

Imagine the wear and tear him and Cain picked up from their years of sparring? They thought they were doing each other a favor with the hard "iron sharpens iron" training but they were likely going too hard and making it so that in 25 years they'll be forgetting their respective grandchildrens names.

What happens after 2? Does he shit the bed stamina wise or what? I saw on sherdog most of his losses are subs?
He has never won a Dec and always hunts for finish. His last sub los was in 2010 on the regionals to Skelly. Im not a 100% confident burns can insta sub him. He might, but I wish there was more footage of him getting subbed more recently. He is also better then Burns everywhere who has also never won a decision. I think this will be who can finish who first

Yeah, fair point. AKA was known for that stuff. I'd still say he's eaten less bombs than Alexei by a fair amount, but your point is for sure valid.

There's a difference between being a solid MMA grappler who can sub some B level guys, and being a world champ. Burns should positionally dominate if the fight is on the mat, even if he doesn't get a quick sub. He's just worlds better on the mat.

The striking is where there's a big risk of course. Herbert can be kind of wild and like you said, Pineda isn't in there to F around. He throws heat and looks to finish nonstop. Herbert can't be sloppy or there's a chance he gets caught. I have to imagine the gameplan is to close distance quickly and force grappling exchanges.
