The UFC 236 prelims attracted 893,000 viewers to ESPN, according to ShowBuzz Daily.

The figure is the lowest for a pay-per-view prelims on ESPN thus far. UFC 234 prelims drew 1.339 million viewers, while UFC 235 prelims attracted an audience of 1.48 million. The UFC 236 prelims drew 498,000 viewers in the 18 to 49 demographic and a 0.60 share on Saturday.

The preliminary card served as a lead-in to the UFC 236 pay-per-view, which was featured by an interim lightweight title bout between Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway and an interim middleweight title clash pitting Israel Adesanya against Kelvin Gastelum. It was the first pay-per-view available exclusively on ESPN+.

This particular preliminary card was light on star power, as Matt Frevola earned a unanimous verdict over Jalin Turner in the featured bout. Perhaps the most notable contest on the four-bout lineup was a flyweight tilt pitting Alexandre Pantoja against Wilson Reis. The event also went head-to-head with NBA and NHL playoff games, which were scheduled throughout the day and evening.

Hell even I missed it, and I catch everything. That card sucked major donkey balls

Didn’t watch any of the prelims. Too many..<FookIsThatGuy>

@Tomas @HoFF604 There was some weird shit going on in the crowd tho, which is what I look for in a good prelim.

Dem prelims were stacked too

Shocking to see not a lot of people tuning in for the likes of Matt Frevola and Wilson Hayes

No wonder their next ESPN card got sent to ESPN+

Not even averaging professional cornhole numbers jeez.

I watched the ppv card but not the prelims. Nothing really I wanted to make a point of catching on the prelims. I don't know about others but I was watching NBA playoffs, boxing on Showtime, some boxing on FS1 and going back and forth on whether I would watch the PPV on ESPN+.

UFCs viewership is going to be choppy in the foreseeable future. I can see some just quitting their following all together with the ESPN+ deal. Some are going to wait it out to see how these changes go, and some will be all in on this.

the prelims also aired on espn plus. I wonder how many watched on plus.

Gotta disagree. Its 5 bucks, I was paying 10 a month just to watch pre-prelims on fightpass. If you like the sport, 5 bucks isnt going to stop anything.

Only the early prelims were on ESPN+, had to switch to regular ESPN for the prelims, and then back for main card. Kind of stupid.
