UFC 223 - Ferguson vs. Nurmagomedov

Ahh okay cool.

That's actually probably good for Ferg too in that being on your back isn't looked at as a big deal if you are also doing some damage.

On the flip side under the new rules, if it looks like Ferguson is taking a lot of damage from the bottom. They might be 10-8 rounds for Khabib instead of 10-9 rounds and Ferguson is going to need to finish Khabib to win the fight in the latter rounds because he could be really far behind on the scorecards and can't win a decision.

He's the underdog to a guy who was just +300 against FIli and +190 against Burgos. He beat the current #5 ranked guy clearly and was in a competitive fight with the guy who's about to fight for the belt.
The oddsmaker were drunk while puting odds for this fights You mentioned.

Maybe I've missed some of that, not sure. The Werdum thing wasn't really on Tony imo. Werdum kind of acted like a shithead. Tony actually sat there pretty calm and did nothing (first time I saw it I assumed it was because...well...Werdum is twice his size and Tony wanted zero part of that) until Werdum aggressively started pointing at Tony. That's when Tony got up and was ready to go and said he was going to ankle pick Werdum LOL.
edit k im an idiot. ignore me

twitter squabble with DC
serra podcast call (which i can see why he would get annoyed with, but still)
then he mentioned that he and werdum have history because he liked a pic of Werdum's on instagram and Werdum didnt like his back (i promise that was from Tony's mouth, not sure where i heard it though LOL)
The podcast wasn't him it was Jim doing an impersonation

Fair point, if Khabib is dealing serious damage and Ferg is mounting no offense.

Nah all good.

I do think Tony is a bit of a weird dude for sure. I honestly don't know how much he's playing certain stuff up. He wants a big payday fight vs Conor obviously if he can beat Khabib. So some of the antics could be to garner some attention on that front. But mostly I just think he marches to his own beat, and is a strange guy. For whatever reason, I kinda find it refreshing.

just curious- but is anyone betting a side (not prop) big? (ferg v khabib)

It sounds like there have been a few people willing to pay the juice on Khabib and go big. Can't remember who off the top of my head. I think @DarkneT maybe?

If you were gonna play Khabib, I guess just playing his ML would be the way to go?

I have 1u on Ferg's ML at +215, but way more on NOT Khabib dec. I like that value better obviously.

It's one of those fights where, imo, there are many diff outcomes so I wouldn't feel confident with any prop. But with that being said, I am surprised many aren't on Ferg considering how many were salivating at getting Ferg at worse odds last time this fight was going to happen

On one hand I agree, on the other hand...recency bias. Ferg had a bad round 1 vs Lee before settling in and finishing. Khabib beat Barboza like a drum for 15 minutes even more recently.

I'll be honest, while I think Ferg poses a way different set of challenges for Khabib than Barboza did (and this fight being 5 rounds being a big factor), the way Khabib walked through Barboza was damn impressive to me too. He's seriously refined what he does to an all-time great level.

I thought it was you ha ha.

Fight's not until April 7th though.

Is it me or was Khabib MUCH more aggressive vs Barboza? In the first round he's typically content with boxing before he backs his opponent up to the fence to grab them and chain wrestle. He barely boxed at all with Barb. Just ate some leg kicks and moved forward until he had hands on him.

My guess is he didn't want his legs chewed up by those crazy hard leg kicks that Barboza throws. Didn't want to be at distance any longer than absolutely necessary.

I have 2u on Tony at +220, so I'm not going big on a side, that's a common bet size for me nowadays. But I have a few more units rounding it out with the over 3½, Not Khabib ITD, Tony in round 4 & 5, and some decision props.
