UFC 211 - Stipe vs JDS II - Dallas

It's no secret Maia doesn't like getting hit, I don't know if you've watched all Jorges fights but Jesus Christ man, he drops and messes up everyone he fights he's a nightmare, Ross Pearson walked to the wrong corner between rounds 2-3
And the real reason Raging Al is raging is because of that 1st round when Jorge attempted murder

If Masvidal can get outta round 1 and Maia stars shooting sloppy this is gunna get really ugly
I have a feeling, that Masvedal is probably even more scared of Maia controlling him for three rounds than Maia is scared of getting hit. Masvedal strikes me as a fighter who can do really well with "honorable" opponents who are willing to bang, like Ellenberger, Pearson and Cerrone. I don't see Masvedal fighting lose and relaxed as he did against Cerrone. That could even up the cardio situation too.

Feel like Masvidal's wins are being a little overblown, especially if people are saying that Maia's are. Cerrone came in terrified; hasn't looked that stiff since the Nate fight. And Ellenberger was a fight he was supposed to dominate. It got weird with the whole toe in the fence deal, but Mas was definitely taking that one no matter what.

Besides Mutante, all the guys he's beaten at 170 have been 155ers who decide to move up. I love Masvidal but we don't really know how he'll deal with Maia's size and strength if he is able to get a hold of him. He's shown some strong TDD, but everyone who has tried more than once to get him down at 170 has been able to do so.

There's some KO props that I really like.

Andrade KO +430
JDS KO +337
Masvidal KO +275
Poirier KO +405 (this probably my favorite)

I agree on Andrade, although JJ hasn't taken damage in all those fights. The 2 with Claudia she got taken down a decent amount but didn't absorb a ton of damage. KK did rock her though, and Andrade is a beast.

I can't see JDS/Stipe going the distance again. It's possible, but Stipe seems to take more chances now than he used to. Overeem had him hurt badly. JDS looks to have regained his quickness and power. I actually thought Stipe won the first fight, but I like this JDS KO prop.

If Masvidal wins, I can't see it any other way than him doing what Whittaker did to Jacare. Maia can't hang on the feet with Jorge, so it's very likely Maia grapplefucks him or Mas puts Maia away standing pretty easily.

And finally DP. I know a lot of people like Eddie here, but I think DP can find Eddie's chin and put him away. Eddie has been through a ton of wars. He has always been a guy with a good chin that gets hit a lot. Good offensive boxing, but not great defense. Getting blasted by Conor in his last fight isn't gonna help. DP got caught by MJ, no shame in that really, MJ has great hands. I just think DP is less shopworn than Eddie and does have the power to finish. And +405 is such a great line compared to his itd line (+275). Does anyone think DP will sub Eddie LOL?

I'm putting in some small bets on all of these right now and a little RR with them too.
Did anyone think hed sub Duffy?

Weren't most people on Edgar against Aldo last year?

I know I was since Aldo was "slowing" after getting starched by Conor.

I might not bet the fight but I won't make the mistake of thinking someone is getting old too quick anymore.

Probably not, and I'm not saying it's impossible he subs Eddie, just very unlikely. +405 vs +275 is quite a big difference. Plenty big enough for me to roll the dice that DP wins by KO if he finishes.

People thought Aldo was "slowing" after a 16 second fight where he got hit with a perfectly timed punch as he was rushing headlong into it? By arguably the biggest power puncher in FW history? (Maybe not even "arguably").

That seems ridiculous to me. Edgar looked like he's slowed a little vs Stephens. Not that he's "shot" or that he's not still a top FW, just that he maybe isn't as quick and explosive as he was a couple years ago. That was a 3 round fight where we got to see enough to make a reasonable case that he may have slowed. I don't think you can compare that to a 16 second, one punch KO loss.

I said it last night but just in case anyone missed it, Frankie fought the Stephens fight with a torn MCL and back issues. Considering that, the fight at UFC 205 really shouldn't be used as evidence of slowing.

A fair point and something to consider for sure. Of course, as a 40 year old that played sports pretty competitively when I was younger (never professionally, but played college football) I can tell you that injuries become more commonplace as you age and try to squeeze the same productivity out of your body as when you were younger. Meaning the odds of Frankie heading into any fight with no injury concerns, back issues, etc. have decreased. It's far more likely he comes into this fight with something wrong, even if it's just a nagging minor thing.

Father Time: Undefeated.

Sure, I agree. I am not saying we are going to see prime Frankie Edgar in this fight. I only want to point out that a lot of people here are pointing to the Stephens fight as evidence that Frankie is declining. In reality, he convincingly won that fight on 1 knee and with a bad back. Instead of suggesting that he is getting worse, winning that fight turns out to have been an incredible achievement.

No that's definitely fair. And honestly Frankie is so tough and has such heart that if anyone can mentally overcome nagging injuries it's him. I actually slightly favor him to win. But his dec line at +115 vs Yair dec at +345 makes Yair dec the bet.

-28 years old, 12-1 -5 kos, 2 subs
-Troubled past, almost died once-due to overdose, multiple drug related issues in past now clean

25.28 mark: looking for a fight episode

older fight:

HL reel:

Jared is a high pressure fighter, looks for take downs, trips, body locks to get the fight to the ground and work his gnp or submission game, basic striking shown but has got 5 ko wins (against low end guys)

-32 years old, 8-1- 5 kos and 1 sub
-had injury only in February 2017, had to cancel ufc debut- injury unknown atm

Few random fights, most recent could source below:

4 years ago his amatuer fight:

training vid in Feb (looks chubby and out of shape for a fight that did not take place)

Micheal seemed to struggle with strong wrestlers, and found it difficult to get back up but these fights were 3-4 years old, otherwise showed he has solid leg strikes and a good high leg kick also, ok hands and a ji jitsu game. Really tricky to see if his take down defence has improved but Gordon his opponent has showed he can secure take downs and has some top control.

Idk if it's been mentioned but I'm pretty sure those videos of "Michel" are not of him. Maybe i'm wrong but he looks different in them too. Half the videos say "Michael" lol.

I don't see some of those fights on his record either. He actually took a round from Brandon Girtz.

He didn't. I'm confused.

I was thinking the same thing but thought maybe I remembered wrong. Wasn't it a one-sided decision? I honestly can't remember for sure.

I remember Duffy having success on the feet and possibly breaking Poirier's nose, but then Poirier dominating on the ground for the rest of the fight. Mainly remember this as the "I'm a sick motherfucker" postfight

Yes. Duffy had a few moments in the first round but once DP got the takedowns/gnp going it was total domination. 30-27, 30-27, 30-26.

EDIT: Antagonist beat me to it
