He was on his way to beating Pettis too. He could easily have won the Pettis or Lamas fight. Wonder what the odds would be on this fight if he did snatch a win over Pettis or Lamas...

All three judges gave Pettis a 10-8 round 1 so Olives needed a finish in that fight or the best he could hope for was a majority draw. But, I get your point and I totally agree. Those were both very competitive fights that could easily have gone his way and the line on this fight might look a lot different.

Weidman's last two losses can more or less be pinpointed to singular bad decisions - the lazy spinning kick against Luke and the telegraphed unnecessary TD attempt against Romero.

I disagree with this. Whole-heartedly.

Weidman was gassing in the rockhold war. He lost the battle of attrition.

He didn't lose to Romero because I of "one unnecessary telegraphed takedown"".. He already lost the prior round... Why shouldn't he have gone for a takedown there..?

Yeah it's a common myth that Weidman was beating Romero until that knee. Weidman won r1 we can all agree but Romero won r2 clearly and was on his way of winning the third round too. He just happened to finish him. If that knee never happened Romero would have won 29-28.

Money is coming on Rumble now
He is the favourite in some eurobookies

Alves;

Alves says his days of trying to cut down are over and will stay at Welterweight for good moving forward.

“It's not worth it,” Alves said to MMA Fighting. “I'll make the same money to cut 15 pounds more. But I don’t regret it because it was something I thought I could do. I tried, honestly, but I couldn’t. At least I tried with everything I had. The good side of it is that now I’m lighter than I was before, and I have less weight to cut. I can make 170 pounds in a week now,” said Thiago.

“The UFC 205 experience changed me a lot,” he continued. “I fixed everything I had to fix, removed some people that were pulling me back, and I have nothing to worry about now. My focus is to be the best now. I’m thrilled to be a father now, having fun everyday, and getting ready for this fight.”

According to Alves, its the removal of said people — his former nutritionist Mike Dolce included — helped him move forward on his march to try and erase a two-fight skid as well as the memory of the botched weight cut.

“Changing my nutritionist, that helped me,” Alves said. “There was so much negative energy between him and my team. And not only that. By blocking all that negative energy, trying to do something that was not what I wanted to accomplish after all. Cutting all that bullsh*t and focusing on what I really have to focus.”

I think you're both right, but you also have to consider that Rockhold and Romero are levels above anyone Mousasi has fought recently outside of Jacare. I think Weidman beats everyone who Mousasi has fought since that Jacare fight. Also, maybe Chris was gassing against Rockhold but the third round was very competitive until the wheel kick attempt and Weidman was arguably winning it.

But beyond all that, I just like this stylistic matchup for Chris. I'm expecting him to have better success taking Mousasi down and keeping him there than he did in either of his last two fights.

Thoughts on Gillespie vs. Holbrook?

I only see Holbrook winning this by some kind of sub happening from a scramble, but Gillespie's top control should be too much for Holbrook, and his striking should be enough to take the win, should it stay on the feet. After watching tape im ready too HAMMER Gillespie when the lines gets released. Holbrook usually starts out with pushing the action, but Gillespie has a good double leg reaction, and it would be wise for him to continuesly take Holbrook down and stand up again where he can put his hands on him.

None of the Holbrooks fights should have been close, but he makes it close by letting people grapple with him, and then capitalize on the scrambles/transitions. If people stay on the feet against Holbrook, they win 9 out of 10 times.

Holbrook winning against Jake Matthews as the biggest underdog on that card, and his 12-1 record should help him out with getting an alright opening line. Im giving Gillespie about 80% to win this, with the 20% being a sub only win from Holbrook.

Holbrook doesn't have good striking at boxing range but he is a good dirty boxer, I really like his work inside the clinch. He also brings a ton of pressure because he isn't afraid to be taken down as he's so active off of his back. He stayed right in Matthews' face and didn't let him get set, I could see him doing the same to GG. The question is what happens inside the clinch as most of GG's takedowns are DBL legs.

True with the clinch boxing. I just don't see alot of the dirty boxing happening in the clinch, since Holbrook doesn't close the distance with fight IQ. He closes the distance without giving a fuck about the TD, but this is the thing about GG's double legs. If Holbrook is relentless with closing the distance, it will be easy for GG to take him down over and over. With that in mind, I think we'll see more TD attempts than active clinches. Holbrooks confidence in his own guard will give GG easy TD's.

When do you think rest of the lines gets released? today or tomorrow? I want to be online when GG vs. Holbrook get released.

Bro, you better watch out. Luca is going to try and get you banned for using a picture of his #1 subscriber as your AV
If Luca wasn't the biggest bitchass fraud ever, i'd like to have him compete against me in the #barrychallenge and see whos the first to 50u or an agreed upon number. But he won't sign up and accept since he can't use his -700 juiced faves he loves.

You're a puss Luca.
