Cowboy did nothing grappling wise until r3 when brooks had given up. In r1 he held him against the fence and all td's were stuffed whoope doe. R2 he got outgrappled. He did hit two i think it was td's but brooks was straight back up.

Sorry guys but it was 19 19 going into r3 at worst no way cowboy won r2.

He kept trying to put the hooks in and take merritt's back once grounded. Positionally hes sloppy. I think he just held on to brooks he didnt actually go for anything until r3 but r3 means nothing to me as brooks had quit. Merritt is also a genuine ww only the second one hes faced and he struggled. Merritt took it on short notice and gassed. If he didnt gas that could have been a real close fight. Merritt was cut and has since lost outside the ufc itd. Cowboy has struggled at WW thus far.
Dude, Will Brooks is a top level wrestler. He would hug the fuck out of Means and Merritt size difference be damned. I wouldn't say whoopdy doo to being able to control him. Plus he broke Brooks ribs in that spot.

I think EZ mainly hit the nail on the head regarding this fight, but I also think Cowboys athleticism is an overlooked talking point. He's probably the most athletic guy Means has fought with some nice speed in his movements and strength in the clinch, while Means is flat footed. I could see that helping nullify a lot of Means likes to do

lost so much respect for anik/florian podcast withe luca appearance this week. everything that dude says is a complete lie. he "spends every waking minute watching tape, learning which specific strikes fighters use and then analyzes how the opponent deals with each type" -- yet for some reason barely mentions any of that anytime you listen to his 'tout'. and he "was always good with numbers so he figured he'd try his hand at mma betting, and in the first event, he won MORE MONEY IN ONE EVENT THAN HE WOULD HAVE MADE IN A FULL YEAR AT HIS FULL TIME JOB"

...jesus christ.

"oh yea i'll move to LA maybe.. maybe february.. maybe march.. i'm just so busy" -- if i was moving from my lifetime home of minnesota for 25+ years or whatever ... if i was going to move to LA, i'd have a little more certainty about the possibility. i wouldn't be "trying to squeeze the move in in a couple months."

i know this isn't too relevant to ufc 207. but people bring luca and his picks up all the time. i just couldn't contain myself. i sincerely hope none of you pay this lying crook a dime.

I honestly cannot believe he's even still in business after this stuff a couple years ago where his #'s were audited and the attorney basically outed him as posting fraudulent info regarding his track record.

Personally, I'd never, EVER pay a tout for picks. Just not my deal, and I've explained my reasoning multiple times here. But IF for some reason I ever did (again, wouldn't), the first thing I'd want to verify is how honest they are about their results. Had a bad year? Okay, break it down for me. What fights did you in? What was your rationale for betting them the way you did? Etc. etc. MMAOB I think has a rep (and again I don't follow all that closely) for being 100% honest about their results, win or lose.

Fury was basically caught as a scam artist yet still charges people for picks. Man, the world we live in. Without looking too hard (because I couldn't really remember the details) I found this that kinda sums up what happened a couple years ago:

re: oliveira-means, it's quite simple, if you ask me. if you think means can stuff oliveira's takedowns, you bet him. if you think oliveira takes him down, you bet him.

olive has already proven that he will go that route against similar opponents. hell, he's taken down MOST people he's fought in the ufc. but look at the moontasri fight, for example. he never even considered stopping the wrestling attack. and means is more dangerous. so yea. oliveira is GOING to come out wrestling. the ONLY question we have to ask: will he be successful.

i haven't bet it yet. i'm leaning olive but uncertain.

Spot on except im on means

Anyone care to take a guess on how juiced Smolka +3.5 is gonna be?

He cage hugged thats not impressive no matter who its against its a fight for crying out loud. Plus he came in well over weight so had a massive size advantage. He was taken down twice in r1 after doing fuck all and then grapple fucked himself in r2. Cowboy has struggled as a ww. He isnt the same fighter when his size advantage is taken away as he relies on bullying you.

Fair enough. She did look ok against Valentina in round 2 but at the same time horrible against Zingano and Davis after the first round.

Agree. I guess I'll put a little more stock in the more recent fight. Also, I think if Ronda is getting it where she needs it early she's gonna end it anyway. If Nunes is keeping Ronda at bay and outstriking her, it's gonna take a lot more out of Ronda than it will out of Nunes. I think Ronda is going to TRY to be more measured in how she attempts to close distance, but once she gets popped a few times it most likely goes out the window. Then she rushes in and either gets the clinch and does what she does, or gets lit up and finished.

Wtf!??!?! They had this lying peice of shit on their podcast!? I stopped listening to sherdog radio because they had this fuck on. Gonna have to do the same with A&F out of principle.

Rd 1 of the Shevchenko fight was almost like a warmup round. Barely anything occurred.

Of course it's impressive lol do you know how hard it is to control a high level wrestler in that position? It's not winning him any fans but it sure as hell takes skill, size difference or not. Plus, he broke his ribs in that spot which was a fight changing strike. Put Tim Means with his size advantage in that spot and I'd make a large bet he has zero success controlling Brooks

Rr sub or dec +110

Rr r1 sub +200

Rr sub r2 +850

Rr sub r3 +3300

Nune ko r1 +550

Really like rr sub r2 and 3 and nune ko r1 lol that lines crazy

Means doesnt hold people against the fence for a living so no he wouldnt be able to do it

lol plenty of WWs can not do to Brooks what Cowboy did. Its absurd to think there is no skill involved

I think he means that Tim couldn't do it, but that's a moot point because that's not his game and he'd never even try.

There's skill involved for sure, but the size edge was definitely a factor too.
