It's like a rewind with these strikers vs grappler matchups. Anything can happen, but I feel the strikers could have a real edge here. Here's my reasoning, if you disagree, tell me your predictions. Mine: Hunt by KO, Silva by TKO.
Cormier has never faced a striker as slick as Silva. Not even close. His boxing has looked ok at times, but he's never faced someone as crafty as Silva.
Let's not forget that Cormier is, like Rousey, an olympic grappler who is learning to strike on the fly. He's taken to boxing pretty well, but let's not disrespect Silva's striking pedigree. GOAT MMA striker vs a relative novice. The fight starts standing. I think the shorter Cormier has a good chance to eat a big knee once he gets handled striking. If there is a feeling out process and Silva goes Matrix mode 3 minutes in, I'll go apeS.
About Lesnar's abillity to end this fight .. Even if taken down, Hunt's chin should hold up to Brock's backhanded and/or donkey konging. This, to me, is like Diaz (Hunt) vs McGregor (Lesnar). Lesnar is in for a fight. Is he up for it? Is he up for the savagery he's about to encounter? Things may even go Brocks way for awhile, but's just going to take one clip to turn the tide in Hunt's favor and keep it there.
As long as a ref doesn't jump in with an early stoppage, I just think Hunt has too much fight and too much dynamite.
