UFC 196 Sold 1.5 million because of Nate Diaz.(Tate/Holm helped). Stop with the Conor PPV #s Myth!

Bro we were bombard with Conor vs Aldo fans for months...

It probably had the best promo of all time...not to mention the whole media conferences hype.

People knew about this fight for a while...Just because Aldo pulled out, doesn't mean people all of sudden weren't hyped for UFC 189.

So again it wasn't Conor by himself who sold UFC 189.

Who are they really promoting in those ads, those commercials, those press conferences? Aldo happened to be the champion. McGregor created and promoted the hype behind that fight.

Actually, you didn't make this. All you did was take a clip from a video that was already made and turned it into a gif. Yawn.
I created the GIF from the Original Video....nobody else did that.

You are welcome, I think it's a pretty good gif.

Come on man. I love Nate Diaz too, and I picked him to beat Conor, but the last time he headlined an event he fought Benson Henderson for the title and it was a free on cable TV fight. Let's bring ourselves back to reality a little bit.

Last one was the maynard one and hes not his fault ufc doesn like him.

They promoted both...an epic "Champion vs Champion" fight....Conor himself didn't sell the fight, if he was fighting dustin priorer, nobody would give a shit.

BTW UFC 178...Where McGregor fought Dustin sold 205k...As you can see Aldo/Title fights bring attn.

Conor needed Nate Diaz to sell a shitload of PPV's...Since Diaz shit talking is amazing...It's really easy to understand.

This thread is shit of Biblical proportions.

You're going to be a sherdog black belt in no time. Keep up the amazing work on your new account bro.

Nate Diaz is such a great draw that most casuals think he is Nick Diaz.

Aaaaaawwwwww man!! Come on!!.......you for reals?!?!?

So because the UFC decides to push Conor....but not Nate Diaz...It's nate Diaz fault? LMFAO.

Sorry but Diaz has always been an interesting guy that people like.

I never seen any other guy get this many views on utube in a postfight speech from Fox.

Fact is that the guy didn't get the respect he deserved by the UFC....he didn't get pushed by the UFC because of the way he looks.

Let's be completely honest here, Nate Diaz has said lots of crazy shit. Is it a coincidence that his most viewed video on YT (until recently) is one where he calls out Conor McGregor? Every second Conor McGregor video on youtube gets 1m+ views. Nobody gave a shit about Nate Diaz until he called out Conor McGregor. You have to give McGregor credit for building himself up to what he is on his own. The success of this was mainly due to McGregor and was pushed up a lot further because of Diaz.

You never saw MMA in your life..People gave a shit about Nate Diaz when he talked shit to cowboy in Brock vs Overeem....They have always gave a shit about him but he just didn't get the proper push by the UFC.

Nate Diaz = Nick Diaz...people like him......You can't possibly tell me that Nate Diaz deserves 40k payouts and to be on FOX 24/7...It's bullshit man, he got fucked over.

The debate is about who brought in casual fans to make those insane PPV numbers. Giving the principal credit to Nate Diaz is ridiculous. I think it's great he's getting more mainstream exposure now, but the truth is that he never managed it before Conor McGregor walked into his life.

I totally agree about his pay. And I agree that the UFC could have pushed them better. The Diaz brothers have great potential as a brand for the UFC.

Casual fans like shit talking...Nate Diaz brought shit talking.

RDA didn't shit talk at all...So yes, Nate Diaz brought casual fans which RDA couldn't bring...Thus Nate vs Conor was super succseful unlike RDA vs Conor which didn't have much hype.

So again Conor didn't sell 1.5 million by himself..Nate Diaz helped alot...em I saying he sold 1.5 million by himself? no, nate didn't but he sold a fuck ton.

The UFC has a huge say in who gets paid more...thats why SAGE,RONDA,PVZ,COnor got pushed hard.....sure they are likable to the typical crap UFC fan, but the push helped him.

Nate Diaz with a proper push would do very good.

LOL, most of the Diaz fans are broke ass bums from Stockton, they can't afford ppv.

Im tired of this narrative that Conor is the one who sells the PPV's.

First of all RDA vs Conor wasn't even being talked about that much. The hype was very underwhelming.

Then Nate Diaz showed up, then all of a sudden people are hyping it up...Their is controversy in the press conferences. The shit talking Diaz brought.

"playing touch butt" Line probably sold 500k PPV's....tbh.

RDA vs Conor would've sold 1 million PPV's at best.

Anyways people have bought into this narrative that Conor is the mayweather of MMA...That Conor alone sells the PPV's...The UFC makes it seem that way but lets look at all his PPV fights.

200px-Mendes-McGregor_189_pre_sale.jpg

Featured Fight of the Year Title Fight....Helped the PPV sells

200px-UFC_194_pre_sale.jpg

Featured Weidman vs Rockhold TitleFight....Plus a whole year of Aldo vs McGregor UFC hype

200px-Dos_Anjos_vs_McGregor.jpg

Featured Holly Holm vs Meisha Tate Title Fight.....Holly Holm became huge after KTFO Ronda.

Do you see a pattern? McGregor can't sell shit by himself...He is not GSP....Rarely did GSP get Co-MainEvent title fights...GSP sold PPV's by himself.

It's easier to sell a shitload of PPV's when you have Co-Main Event Title Fights + Nate Diaz shit talking.

Do you really believe it was because of Nate alone.. like for real?

Conor hadn't built himself yet and wasn't even the main card. He was like 4 fights into the UFC at that point IIRC.

Which is Nate Diaz life story...Conor was already kind of big and had hype but the UFC hadn't pushed him...Just like Nate Diaz never got pushed.

Clearly Diaz is a popular fighter, there's no question. He most certainly boosted the sales - no doubt. Ultimately, it was much more about McGregor than anyone else.
