Ubereem killing a sparring partner

But then people are fooled into thinking the gym method worked.....
Indeed it happens like this, plenty of times.

Fucking hell. Tone it down you mofo!!!!!

Meh... It reeks of rumble being sour for not being the alpha in the gym anymore.

I dont like dutch sparring model. Not my kind of thing. But every dutch guy i have ever trained with, they never went hard in light sparring. And they made sure both knew when hard sparring was the plan.

I am sure Overreem follow the same way of doing it. We knows that overeem pay sparring partners to go full force. Like many top boxers have done for years.

Rumble is full of shit. Everybody else in blackzillians or other gyms, never claimed that Overreem goes hard when its not hard sparring.
Everything I've seen on the subject says Overeem goes overboard.

As for Rumble not being the alpha, Tyrone Spong was also in that gym and you still heard about Overreem going too hard regardless of the wishes of his sparring partners.

That's just not true

All gyms I've been to in Holland will go full force to the body and legs in sparring but pull punches upstairs

Ok well.mikes gym, Vos, hemmers, old school carbin... All those are known for brutal sparring sessions

Overeem is human garbage. Really wish we got to see Rumble shut his lights off. There was a great interview from Rumble about what a piece of shit Overeem is to everyone and how much Anthony hated him.

I trained with him and chilled with him a few times. Always seemed cool as fuck to me. Maybe ubereem days he was a prick, but oh well

Didn’t Overeem have to leave the Jackson gym because he injured Arlovski in sparring before his fight or something? What an idiot and a douche...

Well that's a loose description... Fighters injure fighters all the time in training. I guess the question is why the hell he got kicked out

And this is why at black zillions, Alistair brought in his own guys. You never heard sping say shit. Why? Because he knew what was up. Alistair has stated many times he doesn't pull back on his strikes because he doesn't know how, because he wasn't brought up like that. Spong was with him in those days since he was 17.

If Reem sparred them, they would say " he is a piece of shit for going to hard, even though he let's them know. He trains with his own people, they say he was never a team player. Damned if you do, dammed if you dont

dutch style of sparring is 100% the worse for longevity might produce great fighters for a short time but fuck its not good on the body and brain sparring like that
and you never hear anyone about CTE

Every once in a while
I remember Reem is a douche in training, and I don’t feel bad about his KO losses anymore.

Its the old pro wrestling mentality that if they walk away they dont got what it takes to be champion.

I dont agree with that, but these people dont shed no tears.

Ive known guys though in sparring that dont take it easy on anyone regardless of age and skill level
Trash idiotic dignity mentality that has more negatives than benefits.

I think you misunderstood my point about Spong, he was from the Dutch kickboxing scene and while people had their complaints, it was never at the level you hear about Overeem.

They complained about him not being part of the team because he wanted to work with the striking and grappling coaches there, their equipment, their game plans and everything else that comes with being in a gym like that, then when others came to him for assistance, he ignored it or would kick the crap out of you regardless of what the coaches were asking for.

Maybe dishs it out more than takes it?
I too thought that might be the case, but I doubt that you can spend a lifetime training in various Dutch style kick boxing gyms with all kinds of killers, without getting your fair share of ass-kickings, horse meat or not.

I'm saying you never hear him saying shit about Reem, because he knows what he is going to get. Reem didn't want to even deal with the guys bitching about him going hard if they asked for his help. And overeem didn't go to balckzillians because he thought it was a great gym, he got paid a shit load of money to go there

I know Mike's has a rep, so did hemmers. Most gyms I know have pretty strict rules for hard sparring. You touch your combos on the guard upstairs and then go hard downstairs. That's the way it has been since the late nineties in my experience.

I think like every country you've got gyms that go hard and gyms that don't. But for some reason the Dutch have kind of a bad reputation.

I think it says a lot that a lot of guys from the Golden generation still seem to have their wits about them. Bonyaski, Hoost, Reem, Spong, Saki, Schilt. None of them seem to be slurring or severely impaired. Most have over a 100 pro fights.

And then some permanently sound like they drink a bottle of Jose Guervo for breakfast (Peter Aerts comes to mind)

I guess I mean it's not all that black and white

You will find stupid gyms with stupid training methods. Yet they will make good fighters.

Why? Because its very much up to the fighter.

So if fighter A became good at fighting from a meathead gym, fighter A would have become just as good in a good gym with a solid training style.

Lions den vs tri star

Both work. Even if they are very very different
This, 100%. The fighter's natural born attributes make for the biggest factor when predicting success. There's been a million fighters who came and went from all the big gyms (Tri Star, Alpha Male, ATT, AKA ect.) That never even got enough regional success to make it to the big shows.

I think having experienced training partners is a bigger asset than having world class trainers.
