Tyron Woodley's legacy

Lawler had Two life and death fights for defenses and the fight where he got the belt was really close. Tyron definitively beat him and the Till defense was far more dominant than Robbie's wins over Rory or Carlos...btw...I've always thought Carlos won. Tho...the Second Wonderboy fight and the Maia fight are extremely forgettable.

you know dummy Woodley prob bought some stupid used luxury cars and useless watches/chains to fit in. only to be clowned by the same people he was trying to impress
Yeah he was also buying all this bottle service for them or something like that. Forgot what he said exactly in his old interviews. He bought a used Bentley or something with the first Jake Paul fight, so he's still buying cars with his fight purse. Jewelry is fine if it has some resale value, not the ones that don't. Diamonds for the most part they lose money in because diamonds don't have the same resale value as when you buy them and a lot of jewelers inflate the prices or use low quality diamonds or even fake diamonds sometimes. Better to just stick to solid gold and Rolex's without the extra diamond bedazzles that they like to do. That way the value doesn't drop much. Gold is always by gold standard and buy/sell with the current market based on karat and weight. Rolex's always sell around the same price used which is still close to retail or even more if it's a limited or rare edition.

Used cars not really great investments unless it's a rare model that resale's high. Other than that, it's a kind of a waste especially if you are just coming off from being broke. I don't think a used Bentley is the best purchase to make especially if it eats up a major chunk of your fight purse. It's his money though and he's going to do what he wants with it. Let's just hope he spends it better this time around. Most people will never see that amount of money in their lives, people just burn through it and don't realize what kind of opportunity that is to have that kind of money available.

He’s probably 4th ever he just had a weakness of always backing against the fence

Good breakdown. Bottle Service is a TERRIBLE idea. literally throwing away money. I'd rather burn the money for warmth. do you really think he'll spend it better this time around? I'm not too sure about that

Boring fighter

But top 5 WW

Maybe top 3.

He was a boring gun shy fighter. Had KO power and wrestling

I have him at 10.

1 Georges St-Pierre
2 Kamaru Usman
3 Matt Hughes
4 Robbie Lawler
5 Pat Miletich
6 Jake Shields
7 Hayato Sakurai
8 Nick Diaz
9 José Landi-Jons
10 Tyron Woodley
C'mon man, I can name numerous WWs who were better than Nick Diaz. MIletich has no business in there either. Same with Pele....

A lot of UFC champs lose fights towards the end of their careers. Tyron lost his final 4 UFC fights and then another 2 two in boxing. His 4 title fights when champ were not great.

This is how I see it:
1. GSP
2 Usman
3 Hughes
4 Lawler
5 Woodley

Where would you rank him in UFC Welterweight history?

GSP
Hughes
Usman/Woodley
Lawler

I love Robbie but he shouldn't have been awarded the win a against Johnny in the rematch and the judges straight up robbed Condit in their title fight. Besides the Rory fight his title fun was fun but uninspiring.

Woodley was supposed to be easy work for Robbie but Robbie ended up being easy work for Woodley. People thought Woodley was just a sacrificial lamb for WB. He then beats Maia with 1 good shoulder literally. He literally tore his rotator cuff halfway through the 1st round and won a 5 round decision. Then he absolutely smokes Till.

I know everyone is big on Usman but his title run isn't impressive to me. He wins 2 fights against Colby that just turned into rock em sock em robots and both completely disregarded any wrestling for the most part. He fought Masdival twice who deservingly earned 1 TS but somehow wormed his way into another one and actually performed much worse in the rematch. Burns, SMFH, HK kicks Usman and hurts him and instead of swarming and attempting to finish him he flops on his back and attempts to bait Usman into his guard which he doesn't and just allows Usman recover. He continually ducks Leon who has been his toughest fight (and one if the few people that stopped Usman from taking him down. Maybe the only person actually) besides Colby 1 and like I said they didn't try to wrestle in the first fight. Imagine if Hughes never gave GSP a rematch or Faber never fought Cruz again after the first fight? It would be dumb. Instead of trying to fight and solidify himself as the best WW by beating all challengers he's trying to chase a boxing match.

Usman rant over.

From 170 GOAT in 2018... To getting knocked out by Jake Paul in 2021 and never that good... Never change internet.

oh come on man you can’t blame ppl for hating on him for losing to jake freaking Paul.

Not just one loss, but two.
And not just a boring dec loss...he flinched HARD on that feint body shot and got absolutely laid out stiff by a Disney star YouTube prankster like it was his first time sparring with hands only.

Yes I agree, I never understood the people that are willing to spend that much on a bottle. I understand the people that are filthy rich and it's more for the experience. But if you aren't rich enough to the point where it doesn't affect your pockets, I don't understand it at all. I mean I get it, people want to go to the tables and girls like going to the bottle service tables but that's just way too expensive for something like that. I've worked at night clubs before and never understood the people willing to spend that kind of money over and over again at the club. I understand once in awhile for a specific celebration or something. You can pull girls at the club even without a table and a bottle, you can even pull the ones at the table so I never understood the need to pay for a table like that frequently.

Haha on the Escobar reference.

Woodley got 2 big fight purses all relatively close together, he should have a solid cushion if he doesn't just splurge with it. We'll see how it plays out. He could easily burn through it working on his rap career again though.

Overachiever in my opinion. Back in his strikeforce days, he looked like just a one dimensional wrestler. He evolved very well and transformed into a world champ.

I have to put him at 3 or 4, either way with Hughes

Why do you have Lawler above him? Woodley beat him, has more title defences and Lawler has way more loses than Woodley. What’s the reasoning?

It should be like:

1./2. GSP/ Usman
3. Hughes
4. Woodley
5./6. Lawler/ Colby

4

1.GSP
2.Usman
3.Hughes
4. Woodley

Had some close fights but he's up there. I don't count what fighters do outside their prime. It's like people saying Fedor or Anderson are hurting their legacy cause they are losing now but they are just old now.

A sensible approach.

Back when everyone was super high on Robbie Lawler, in came Tyron to win the belt by spectacularly KO'ing him in the first round. Beat Wonderboy in his absolute prime, absolutely ran through Till. Tyron at his best was a tough fight for any welterweight thats ever existed.

There is this weird notion that people refuse to recognize fighters get old. Tyron was aged well out of his athletic prime years before he quit MMA. Who cares if he took celebrity boxing matches to make millions of dollars? Who wouldn't?

Sadly people will remember him being knocked out colder than the princess in Frozen by a Disney youtuber..

I will always be grateful for his KO of Josh Kosheck, probably sits around no. 5
Watching Koshcheck literally shut down the way he did was satisfying. Such a great thing to watch when an arrogant person gets theirs

I know he had his moment, but all he’s likely to be remembered for is getting KO’d by Marquardt and now by Paul.
