Tyron Woodley's legacy

the timing of some of his lesser wins was impressive like when he beat certain prospects even though their ranking or status wasn't as legit as others. but i was always a heavy critic of tyron. man is more of an athlete than a fighter the tools he had to make him great are not there anymore.

Tyron Woodley's legacy was relatively OK until he fought Jake Paul.
I'm happy he made some money, but at the cost of part of his legacy.
A little how like Ali made himself look bad in later fights.

  • KO’ed by a YouTuber
  • UFC record for fewest strikes thrown in a title fight vs Maia
  • Claimed UFC is institutionally racist because he wasn’t treated exactly like Conor
  • Always complained about fighting contenders
  • Compared Wonderboy fans to the KKK
  • Tried to spin every compliment and criticism he got as racist
  • Shit-tier rap

<Varys01> What the FUCK did you DO Tyron? You had ONE job, ONE job!

I'd say somewhere between 6 and 10. I'd have to sit down and really think about it.

Shields is often forgotten but IMO his best wins are better than Woodley's, so it's pretty close for me for the number five spot. Beating Hendo is better than any Woodley win.

Disagree. It's a shame people don't appreciate the first Wonderboy fight. I enjoyed both but I can understand why people didn't care for the second fight. Also he completely demolished Till.

The Wonderboy fights were very high level. Woodley was the first one to solve that puzzle and absolutely timed him with those counters. Not worth a rewatch though.
The Till win hasn't aged well, but he beat him the most definitively.
Woodley loses to Maia if Maia throws a 1-2 before every one of those takedown attempts. He would have out struck Woodley, just by throwing a basic combo before shooting for the single leg. Even a jab would have been enough.

He made $1.5m plus PPV money. He'll cope.

we’re not laughing because he made great money. We’re laughing because he got stone cold sent to the shadow realm by a damn YouTube prankster who just fought a basketball player.
He could have made money and also NOT got absolutely humiliated and stretched out flat by a juiced up Disney douche lol.

4

1.GSP
2.Usman
3.Hughes
4. Woodley

Had some close fights but he's up there. I don't count what fighters do outside their prime. It's like people saying Fedor or Anderson are hurting their legacy cause they are losing now but they are just old now.

He's made millions through UFC and went broke. Spend money like Woodley and that won't last him long. He most likely burned through most of it already. Hopefully he uses the money better this time around, he got lucky with the rematch and he won't be looking at paydays anywhere near that fight purse anymore. He needs to stop spending and trying to stunt like the rappers/ball players/boxers/influencers/celebs/etc. It's what made him broke the first time around.

He’s definitely top 4-5 welterweight of all time. He deserves respect for that. He also managed to make some money towards the end of his career but it ended with him getting face planted by a Disney/YouTube star and it made combat sports look terrible. He deserves to get shit on for that.

you know dummy Woodley prob bought some stupid used luxury cars and useless watches/chains to fit in. only to be clowned by the same people he was trying to impress

A lot of UFC champs lose fights towards the end of their careers. Tyron lost his final 4 UFC fights and then another 2 two in boxing. His 4 title fights when champ were not great.

This is how I see it:
1. GSP
2 Usman
3 Hughes
4 Lawler
5 Woodley

Where would you rank him in UFC Welterweight history?

I have him at 10.

1 Georges St-Pierre
2 Kamaru Usman
3 Matt Hughes
4 Robbie Lawler
5 Pat Miletich
6 Jake Shields
7 Hayato Sakurai
8 Nick Diaz
9 José Landi-Jons
10 Tyron Woodley
