This is a potential forum killer. You should take this more seriously if you care about this place. This literally just happened a few months ago to the UG. The leadership started implementing stupid rules and the userbase disappeared. It's entirely dead now.

When you don't notify users about scheduled maintenances and impose two-factor authentication without any explanation, it’s clear that user experience isn't being prioritized.

2FA for a public discussion board is a bit excessive. Never encountered it on any forum before, not even Facebook requires it. Hell, bank accounts don't even enforce it.

Sites that use 2FA are government websites and work places. Places that handle highly sensitive data. This is a karate forum. But hey, it is what it is lol. Hopefully we don't have to sign in again every other day.

For the life of me I cannot understand why such a meaningless place like a karate forum would need 2FA. The idiots who make the forum software are vastly overestimating what goes down here. It's not like this is real life.

Oh well, not a biggie, and at least it seemed to be quite untroublesome with the email code, unlike some other places where the fucktards in charge make it mandatory to get some mobile app or another to increase the irrtation. This at least is on the level of diaper rash.

That's the point. It wants to get rid of accounts like yours which is wont be able to track.

jay and the mods are trying to sell this as a big altruistic fight against hackers but in reality it is just an attempt to monetize through advertising. Especially now that more and more use adblockers. Now they will have access to your email to sell you stuff.

When in doubt assume it's about money.

I would recommend to everyone to change their email to a new, throw away email that wont track back to you if you don't already.
