A. Alexander Romanov: King Kong from Moldova. I can't quite grasp why UFC parted with him. I've seen worse heavyweights recently with much worse records. Alex has 19 wins 16 by finish. He got unsigned after a WIN! Before that he lost to Jailton, big deal

He's a heavyweights heavyweight. He will always be morbidly obese with a questionable tank but GD he's powerful and a good grappler. I just saw him break Tim Johnsons ribs with a standing guillotine

B. Moldavsky and Bilostenniy are great: I'd like to see more heavyweights like this in UFC. Maybe I'm talking out of my ass but some of these Russian heavyweights could really mix things up with Aspinall. Moldovsky is a crafty tank and Bilostenniys hands are fast as fuck and remind me of the Emilianenko brothers

Just with how empty and dilapidated UFCs heavyweight division is I found it interesting. Don't know if this thread is legal or needs to be moved lol

For sure there are good heavyweights outside of the US system. In the east they have other athletic pathways, but they're combat centric so at least athletic washouts have ya half decent foundation

he went 2-3
In his last 5 fights in the UFC, sure. Went 5-0 in his first 5, all finishes. He was 7-3 overall

and lost to Marcin Tybura.
Who is in the top 10 and that was a terrible decision. His other 2 losses are the current #6 and current #3 (who should be #2 if not for his own robbery)

Brother you do not want Moldavsky in the UFC, watch most of his fights, especially his two very disappointing losses to an old ass Vassell. Dude is a decision machine 9/10 times he fights.

This isn't all that important I suppose...but the Tybura decision was terrible? I remember round 1 Romanov straight ragdolled Tybura. Didn't he gas not too long after and drop rounds 2 and 3? Or was round 2 competitive? I can't remember exactly, I just know Romanov got rd 1 easy and Tybura rd 3 easy.

A- End of contract, and I guess more money in the PFL
B- The UFC is very picky with Russians living in Russia (tough to get a visa to fight in a UFC destination). You have roughly 20 of them, and a lot are ranked (Makhachev, Nurmagomedov, Volkov, Pavlovitch, etc.) or were expected to (Fakhretdinov, Shara Bullet, Aliskerov, etc.)

Nothing to do with ability. All to do with finances.

Romanov didn't win, but round 1 was a 10-8 to nearly everyone. Tybura had zero offense while getting ragdolled. It was 4 and a half minutes of control time and 64 total strikes vs 1. That fight should have been a draw

I believe this one was end of contract, but not Romanov just deciding on another org. The UFC straight up wasn't giving him a new contract. So point B holds the weight there, probably with a combination of other factors people mentioned

UFC HW really is a laughing stock. i mean they are having trouble even fielding a top ten at this point.

they need to tell jones to piss off and then start actively recruiting new talent, poach from the minor leagues if need be, make it a priority. division needs a serious shot in the arm.

I think flying out drug testers to russia and flying them out to the US with visa's make it difficult, so if you're not good or entertaining they don't like to do it
