If you spend any amount of time in an elementary school you will hear teachers giving students the "...but words will never hurt me" speech to encourage students not to let words bother them. We now have an entire culture telling adults that words are harmful and they are too fragile to deal with them. If we tell small children to toughen up, then shouldn't adults be told the same?

It's sad that we let adults act like obnoxious kids.
When i was just a kid if I complained about something for more than a minute or so, lthe adults in my life would tell me to get over it. Life isn't fair and getting upset over every little jab is giving power to those who mess with you and taking it away from yourself .

Now we tell adults and kids that effort and attitude mean absolutely nothing, and the only thing that matters is how you were born. Like race, gender, sexual orientation and economic standing.. these things alone determine your future.
