Twitter is actually banning people posting the ‘NPC’ meme for “dehumanizing speech"

For what its worth, I don't think the meme should be censored. I don't find it offensive (the few I've seen) but I also don't find them funny.

Now the left are offended by NPC memes?

Seriously what kind of household does one have to grow up in to be offended by a fucking NPC meme?

Because we don't live in mommy's basement.

a) Twitter is not a public platform is private.

b) If you believe that private platforms like Twitter or Facebook should be regulated by government why are you voting for the party of zero regulation?

Neither party favors zero regulation. You know this.

The whole thing is so silly. Some of the memes are pretty damn funny admittedly. The thought of Trumptards making fun of anyone else for being unthinking followers is laying on the irony a little thick, of course those probably aren't the only people posting these memes. But man, a lot of the outrage over stuff like this highlights how in some ways the social left reminds me of how I always viewed the religious right when I was growing up: sanctimonious, self-righteous and more than anything, humourless. Like there are actual articles being written about this NPC shit and people getting banned from social media over it. Remember the meme with Trump vs CNN in WWE and they were all melting down and calling it "violence against journalists, an attack on democracy!!!"

And of course as already mentioned it's pretty rich when you see how often the term "bot" is thrown around on social media.

"NPC" is probably just the "right's" answer to Russian bots which was thrown around quite a bit when the Russia angle was still relevant.

Usually, in the political world, the "right hand" reacts to what the "left hand" is doing. When the left-wing pumped out stuff about fake news, the right-wing absorbed it as its own. The same thing seems to have happened here.

It's pretty foolish for any side to preach righteousness and condemnation. It's pretty much a mud-slinging fest on all sides, and has been that way since 2016 atleast. Even Hillary talked about "deplorables", which wasn't necessarily the kindest term to use regarding Trump's voters and backers.

I'm afraid courteousness is out of the window, for the time being. Things might settle down at a later point.

It's changing, it's worldwide. Conservatism will die and be superseded by right wing populism that will regulate the media, trash feminists and LGBTs and destroy PC. The left will never regulate anti-white/male/privileged media.
Legally speaking, in the US, there are some things the government could do against Twitter or Facebook. If they start to control what is getting published for political reasons they will lose legal protections. Ted Cruz pointed that to Zuckerberg.

Conservatives should start their own Twitter. And no doubt they would allow all lefty opinions.

I only heard about this NPC meme last night, and didn't know what it was until reading OP. Whole thing is just silly, from the meme to the censorship.
They have a right wing twitter its called GAP

The right wing or libertarian twitter is called GAB and big tech companies like Microsoft refuse to host it.

Damn even this thread set off the NPCs. Hear em crying?

Like McDonald's. I'm lovin it.

People are too spoiled by the virtues of economic freedom that they will never go against it from the right.

So right wing populism will never beat traditional conservatism.

Your homegirl Le Pen losing to Macron proves that.

One party favors the internet being at the mercy of corporations the most and its not even close.
Both parties favor heavy regulation of most industries. You referred to one of the two as being for zero regulations. I'm just pointing out that it was a little silly of you, particularly in the context of a conversation in part about whether Twitter and Facebook should be regulated.

I support 100% for web hosting and ISPs being regulated as utilities, your party however is pretty determined for the internet to be owned by corporations.

In the case of the internet, Republicans are in favor of zero regulations, Ajit Pai proves that.

You do realize that by giving it so much detail you are beating the point of the meme right?

No.

All this is, is your pathetic attempt to spin, because your lefty buddy made an ass of himself.

Private ip entities should be able to regulate their platform as they see fit, free from government regulations outside of legal age stuff.

However, considering the amount of stuff twitter allows like explicit porn, violence and even threats - this seems like an odd thing to draw the line on

The new “NPC” meme mocks leftists by depicting them as unthinking and reflexive automatons. The meme has upset the left so much that Twitter is now banning people posting it for “dehumanizing speech,” but its humble origins are the computer-controlled characters of limited intelligence found in most video games....

More here

Dehumanizing? Banning? Is this really where we want our culture headed?

I dunno, they are just memes after all.

I noticed you masked your source in the link by using "More here" rather then the full URL of the source which is "https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2018...-at-cartoons-mocking-their-scripted-thoughts/" If you are going to spource the largest distributor of false and misleading information at least have the balls to put in in plain sight for everyone to read.

On top of that, the article is fucking stupid. It says "Twitter has banned dozens of users sharing and retweeting the NPC memes". Really, dozens!!! Holy censorship Batman! If true, I'm sure the meme was accompanied by some crazy bullshit and that's why they were ban.

Stupid thread, by stupid TS, and believed by stupid people. Dump this shit!
