Television TV Show Thread

A few episodes left of Surface Season 2 on Apple TV+ and not super eager to finish it. Not sure if it's the characters or story that's bleh.

I got the special $2.99 per month price for Apple TV+ for three months but not sure what else I want to watch on there. Didn't finish Foundation Season 2. Not much itch to resume After Party Season 2.
Ted Lasso.
I'm not mad about Surface but it keeps me going intrigue wise. And Jamie Taart from Lasso is in it as the billionaire son.

I highly recommend The Residence on Netflix. If you are a fan of Knives Out, Clue, Murder On The Orient Express, this could be for you. A death occurs at The White House during a State dinner for Australia. They bring in renowned detective Cordellia Cupp to solve it. It is part comedy, part mystery, part workplace drama, part who done it. It is ALL FUN. I was originally put off by what seemed to be woke bullshit. But I was wrong. It is organically diverse, quirky as hell, and quite engaging.

The wife and I just finished this last night. It was pretty good! My favorite character was Tripp, played by Jason Lee. That guy is hilarious and being a skater myself, love to see him doing his thing in Hollywood and being successful at it.

Agreed, I just finished 1923. It either needed to be longer, with more focus on the characters, or far shorter as a two part theatrical release with less "Oregon Trail" (perfect analogy lol) circumstances. There was way too much going on too quickly. It had so much potential!

I had no idea it was 2 seasons until midway through S2.

That last leg of the road trip his wife went on was retarded. A sudden snow storm would have made more sense.
All three were idiots for continuing on once they reached the last gas station. Even with good weather they would have been stranded, as they didn't have enough fuel, which they warned about. Unless I heard the station attendant wrong, it was suicide. The depressing ending for Spencer should have had more impact, but that's what terrible writing does.

Same here, I had assumed that the series was going to keep on going and that maybe part of killing Yellowstone was going to give them time and money to focus on 1923...there was still a lot of story to tell, and they had such a star studded cast.

lol Yes, that road trip at the end would've made me turn off most shows. It blows my mind sometimes how things like that get written to paper and put on screen, because it made no sense.

Was 1883 worth watching?
I never started that one. I saw the cast was Tim McGraw and Faith Hill....country singers that I have never seen act before, so it didn't seem like it'd be worth it.

That role was made for him! I wondered where he had been.

From an interview I saw with him on the 9 Club about a year ago or more, after My Name Is Earl, he got back into skating for fun and is a part owner of the skate company Stereo. I suppose he just handles that and then acts when his agent sends him out for auditions. lol

Finished Surface Season 2. Looks like they were setting up a Season 3 with unrelated story from S2.

American Murder: Gabby Patito

Sad stuff. I wasn't too familiar with this case but it hit me pretty hard. Maybe because of all the video evidence, or maybe because they never really caught Brian. His parents should be charged with something. Absolute scumbags. I was also just at The Grand Tetons right where he killed her and didn't even know it. This is a pretty well done series.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill did a good job. If it didn't fall apart, I would love to have seen more of the Dutton Origins, especially the building of the iconic house (like someone else mentioned) along with how they were able to carve out so much land for themselves.

It's all a bit foggy now. I just recall loving the first few episodes (Billy Bob Thorton has a small awesome role/scene) but by the end I was basically cheering on the death of a main character.

Yeah, not really a fan of that.

I'd probably do that if I ran a streaming company.

People are signing up, blasting through the content they want to see, and dropping.

IDGAF because I torrent everything, but these companies are spending huge money in the streaming wars, and I can see why they're trying to maximize profits.

Down the road (if not already) the streaming situation is going to be just as stupid and expensive as cable, so I'm happy to keep breaking the law if legal means are so messed up. Hell, even when paying for Netflix and Amazon I'd still torrent things on those services because their interfaces are so bad and torrenting is so easy and convenient.

That said, a lawyer from my building dropped by my apartment to work out an agreement, and when he saw my entertainment rig we got to talking about media. He was ten times as sophisticated as me and asked me why I was messing around with torrents when Newsgroups are so much safer, faster and easier. I had a tech lead when I worked in technology who asked me the same thing fifteen years ago. When the lawyer emailed me my copy of the agreement, he put a PS after his signature: "Newsgroups good, torrents bad."

The fact they settled with a civil case makes me so mad. There was so much evidence criminally.
