Regarding Yellowstone, should I start it prior to the 1883 and 1923 shows or hit the prequels first?

Swaying towards 1883 then 1923 then Yellowstone.
Why not prequels first since then you'd have a feel for the significance of the modern day struggles.

I am 3 episodes into to Paradise. It is interesting and I love the cast. Not totally hooked yet, we will see where it goes.

Yeah. It’s odd for me cause Sterling, Marsden, and Julianne Nicholson are always so good and that is no exception on this series, but I just haven’t been able to get into it. I watched a couple of episodes. Great cast. Solid, mysterious premise. But I’m just not drawn into it.

Adolescense 3/10

A typical Netflix "Limited Series" that could have just been a mediocre 90 minute movie, but instead they stretch it out into 4 hours of scene after scene who's only purpose seemed to be to try to put the audience to sleep.

The acting was very good across the board though and there were a lot of very long, single takes with multiple actors and across multiple locations that were very well done. If that is your thing you might get some enjoyment out of it, otherwise don't waste your time.

Started watching Apple TV+ Surface Season 2. The heiress is good looking almost like Dakota Johnson.

3 Episodes into The Bondman with Kevin bacon. Easy to get into and watch. Like an easy Supernatural. He still looks good at 66. Nice cast, worth a watch.

Finished 1883. Conflicted. Loved parts of it but struggled with others. Wish they’d made the Comanche more brutal. But here we are in 2025.

I highly recommend The Residence on Netflix. If you are a fan of Knives Out, Clue, Murder On The Orient Express, this could be for you. A death occurs at The White House during a State dinner for Australia. They bring in renowned detective Cordellia Cupp to solve it. It is part comedy, part mystery, part workplace drama, part who done it. It is ALL FUN. I was originally put off by what seemed to be woke bullshit. But I was wrong. It is organically diverse, quirky as hell, and quite engaging.

Nailed it. She does look like her.
I finished it during the week, hated hating Jamie Taart from Ted Lasso haha.

I've been watching this week:

The Ruth Ellis Story: true story about the last woman in England to be hanged
Trigger Point season 2: Brit show about a bomb disposal expert in London working with counter terrorism. Flippin brilliant.
The new Jon Hamm show: Your Friends and Neighbours. Absolutely awesome. I'll watch him in anything but it's brilliant drama with a lot of humour too.
Bosch: Legacy - delivers as per usual.
Mobland: I hate that we're already 3 episodes in. I love Tom Hardy.
Leverage: So chuffed it's back!! Always a good caper and intricate storyline to stick it to the bad guy.

Started The White Lotus and after 4 episodes this is best TV I've seen in a long time.

-1 point for the daugher of Connie Britton who either has her eyes are unnaturally far apart or her face just stops right after the eyes. It looks, dare I say, unnatural

Who was that? It's been a while since I saw it. Sydney Sweeny?

I still think the snake scene was the dumbest scene I've seen from a supposedly serious drama. Aside from the cartoonish way the snake flew to bite the face of the target, they also couldn't think of a better resolution to end a major character. It was just super lazy writing.

The show never recovered from this for me. That’s a living cartoon

1923 has a lot of flaws, but their cast is A+. This series honestly should've been a movie..maybe a 2 or 3 part movie. It's a great love story, mixed in with some revenge, and has some great scenes of American wildlife. I was always interested in what the cast had to say even when they were in the middle of something that made no sense storywise.
With this cast, I think this would've won a lot of awards if they had put it in movie form and cut out crap they layered in it.
It had the opposite problem that Yellowstone had for me---there was a lot happening in 1923, but it was just too much. It's like they're trying to hit every possible bad scenario they could instead of focusing more on the characters, it was like 'The Oregon Trail' game on nightmare mode.
Agreed, I just finished 1923. It either needed to be longer, with more focus on the characters, or far shorter as a two part theatrical release with less "Oregon Trail" (perfect analogy lol) circumstances. There was way too much going on too quickly. It had so much potential!

I had no idea it was 2 seasons until midway through S2.

That last leg of the road trip his wife went on was retarded. A sudden snow storm would have made more sense.
All three were idiots for continuing on once they reached the last gas station. Even with good weather they would have been stranded, as they didn't have enough fuel, which they warned about. Unless I heard the station attendant wrong, it was suicide. The depressing ending for Spencer should have had more impact, but that's what terrible writing does.

I get White Lotus, it's a proper build up with very little happening per episode. Actually have a bit of a thing for Walton Goggins in this season which I never thought I'd ever say. Not trying to convert you. The episode with Parker Posey and Sam Rockwell week before last is some of the best TV ever. Hilarious and jaw agog at the same time.

Big fan of Goggins here since The Shield days. It really strikes me that you can’t always tell who from these ensemble shows who is going to become the breakout star.

There were a lot of good actors on The Shield but Goggins has definitely had the best post-series career. I really respect his versatility. He can do comedy and drama very well.

So I did watch season 3 of Lotus just recently. I hadn’t watched the first two and thought each season was a complete standalone.
Of course it became apparent, early on, that the Natasha Rothwell and John Gries stuff dated back to previous seasons. I’ll have to check those out now.

I thought the show was quite good. Effective slow burn. Stacked cast. Good fusion of dark comedy and intense drama.

Not every story arc was equally compelling. But that stands to reason. I thought certain narrative elements were a bit tacked on, introduced abruptly, didn’t have much in the way of resolution. Sometimes with these ensembles series with big casts and limited episodes, you don’t really have too much time to flesh things out. But, overall, sharply written and well executed.

Goggins was a standout. Parker Posey was hilarious. Scene where Leslie Bibb was very warm and upbeat after recognizing her and she made it completely awkward felt hilariously realistic.

Rockwell made a major impact despite only briefly being in there. Carrie Coon, Bibb, and Monaghan all really seemed to embody the exact type of people they were playing.

Gries is a reliably awesome character actor. I’ve seen him in a bunch of stuff but his role as the uncle in Napoleon Dynamite immediately jumped to mind. Seems to have a knack for playing sleazy characters.

A few episodes left of Surface Season 2 on Apple TV+ and not super eager to finish it. Not sure if it's the characters or story that's bleh.

I got the special $2.99 per month price for Apple TV+ for three months but not sure what else I want to watch on there. Didn't finish Foundation Season 2. Not much itch to resume After Party Season 2.
