Television TV Show Thread

It’s not a surprise, but it still stings: Netflix appears to have closed the door on Black Summer, the best zombie show on the platform. Co-creator John Hyams had initially tweeted a third season wouldn’t be happening back in April, but a new report indicatesNetflix has officially canceled the show.

I am not surprised because it has been a couple of years since S2. I liked the concept. I could not summarize the plot or characters but I liked the filming style and the sheer frantic action of it all. Too bad.

Aw, that's a bummer. I was always meaning to get around to watching the show, but just haven't yet. I believe this was supposed to be a prequel series to Z Nation, right?

Correct (although I’ve never watched Z Nation)

Just finished up Season 1 of Percy Jackson. It gets pretty corny at times but it is entertaining. Cut out after the credits on the last episode was great.

7/10

Z Nation was a wacky and fun zombie show staring DJ Qualls and Kellita Smith. The show was a lot of fun and had some of the greatest zombie deaths and even new zombie types. I remember I watched 3 seasons and then fell out of the loop on it all. I'll have to go back and check out both when I get some free time in between other shows.

Anyone watchin Power:Kanan, one of 50c' shows. Dude put out lots of shows, most had promising beginnings but turned into crap(like Tommy spin off).
This one though, It started of ok as others but got a little better. This 3rd season though, not sure who came on, the writing is great, better than 99% of similar genre shows on tv, despite having small budget. This season dare I call it budget The Wire. Charismatic characters (Pops and his wife,Ronnie, Unique ...everyone) with distinctive speech and all, great dialogues/monologues, interesting stories, great character development that is consistent/logical , even the opening and closing 50c lines .
One wouldnt expect it of some random, marginal, not really talked about show.

What do you know? Another bad Netflix adaptation created by people who don't like the source material.

If people are tired of this shit, they should just not watch and ignore it on social media.

All of the negative engagement is still engagement.

I really thought after the Disney disasters and the firing of many Newflix woke spewing writers getting let go this nonsense would stop. Sokka was sexist and matured and learned as the show progressed. That was the point of who he was...he grew. It already shows they do not know these characters.

Apparently season 3 of Reacher is based on Persuader, a book I haven't read yet. Good news for me. Bad news is that Neagly will return yet again. They're undermining the concept of Reacher being a loner.
This season he def was not a loner....and they did so much charcter development it would b odd if they didn't bring his team back for next season. I still enjoyed it, but this is not the Reacher in most of the books.

I wish they'd held Bad Luck and Trouble for season 3. It would have strengthened the idea that the situation of having people to rely on was unusual for him. I really hope they don't turn the show into an ensemble.

I think that it's going to take Three Body Problem bombing for Netflix to seriously reassess who they hire for these projects.

With the exception of Matt Owens, their showrunners on adaptation projects have no respect for the source material at all.

RE Three Body Problem, I'm pretty sure that it's going to suck. Expecting Benioff and Weiss to competently adapt a hard sci series is insane.

Anyone been up to date with Bosch Legacy? It never gets any press but I really enjoy it, haven't finished the second season but him handing the keys to her new career's great.

Dangit. I actually liked it.

Z Nation was a fun watch.

The Yakuza show Tokyo Vice on Max debuts its second season two today. I highly recommend season 1 if you don’t mind a heavy use of subtitles.

Loved season one, although I didn't really like Ansel Elgort in the lead.

Rachel Keller singing GnR in Japanese haunts my dreams.

I thought season 1 was good, so I will definitely was season 2

@Dragonlordxxxxx

This was not expected.

My question is "how long are these 6 episodes?"
20 minutes each?
30 minutes each?
40 minutes each?
60 minutes each?
Is it a movie that was split between six pieces?

Because what I really appreciated about both Sonic movies is they were perfectly edited & paced. The movie audience is never bored with one section of either movie lasting too long.

But a TV series?
Starring Knuckles? (I doubt he has much of a range of character)
And no Jim Carrey as Robotnick? And who's this schmuck villain?

I'm not writing this off, but its pretty clear it has some high hurdles to jump over.
