Television TV Show Thread

I've seen a lot of comments on how the show is great... For fans of the books. For everyone else it's a bit incomprehensible.

Obviously it's just beginning but we'll see.
I'd say that's accurate (so far), but honestly the real hook in the book if the daemons don't get you is a little delayed as well. Part of my hesitation with these adaptations is knowing the patience that's required to appreciate the universe(s).

I'm definitely going to watch it soon.

@Loiosh Ruth Wilson was EXCELLENT in episode 2. One of the few casting choices I wasn't sure about, but I feel confident now that she's going to carry the role beautifully.

Godfather of Harlem is on point great -- even if they take huge liberties with characters and history.

On epix? Forrest Whittaker? Great show and bumpy is a character/person i thought would always be linked to Denzel

Denzel didnt play bumpy -- he played Frank Lucas, who was Bumpy's successor after he died.

My apologies , you're right. That is the show you were referring to? On epix?

Don't apologize, man. You didnt do anything wrong. And, yes on epix -- They take a lot of liberties with the history of the main characters (especially the Italian mob guys) and the try to slam as many historical people as they can into it, which goes against the real events, but it is very well acted, not ham fisted with the plots and it flows really well. Great acting from Vincent D'Onofrio and Nigel Thatch

Really enjoying show , and kind of surprised at how well done it is...yes I've spent my day off watching that and pennyworth (wasn't aware epix made original shows .. and that they didn't suck)

THE MANDALORIAN first episode was pretty good. IG-11, the bounty hunting droid, was very cool. Werner Herzog brought a lot of class to the show with his brief appearance. Ending was a shocker.

So I had zero idea His Dark Materials had anything to do with Golden Compass (never saw the movie) so I am enjoying the show a lot.

Currently watching Bates' Motel on Netflix.

It's a prequel to Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho.

It's actually really good. On episode 7 of the first season right now.

Glad someone else found this. My wife and I loved that show when it was airing live. You'll enjoy the series. The entire series was great.

So I finally found the time to watch the first episode.

Wow. Just, wow.

I'm going to watch it again before watching the second episode because there's depth here and I can't quite see it as clearly as I'd like.

I haven't been a huge fan of this show, even though it has had some admittedly brilliant moments. I've remained distantly attached, watching bits and pieces here and there.

Is it weird that Quentin's death hit me so hard, and it's impossible for me to watch that scene without feeling a phantom weight on my chest?

I'll probably make more of an effort with the new season.

Yeaaa glad to hear you're on board!

Was starting to think I had gone stark, raving mad.

And to anyone not watching Mr. Inbetween... Shame on you.

Another brilliant episode.

Ray is hired by an old man to find the old man's daughter. He tracks her down to another old man and beats the truth out of him; the girl's body is hidden in a train tunnel. Ray brings the father to verify the body, now in a suitcase, and he does. He looks up at Ray and points to the tunnel, asking if the villain is in there. Ray hands him a lantern, and the father heads in. He walks up the terrified old man, who is handcuffed. Walks right up to him. Takes a deep breath and look him in the eye. "Do you know how much pain you've caused?" He turns and slowly walks out of the tunnel, but before he's out, the old man shouts "I'm sorry!" The father pauses, and from the old man's perspective all you can see is the lantern. After a moment, it continues out of the tunnel.

The father thanks Ray (for helping him learn the truth). He shakes Ray's hand, and walks away.

Thing is, Ray also has a daughter.

Ghost Riders in the Sky is playing, THIS version by Burl Ives. The guitar starts as the father turns and walks away. Please listen. It's epic. It's playing as Ray matches back into the tunnel to end the episode.

I cannot imagine anything else on television this month coming close to beating this scene.

I'm your ride or die friend for life. This show is amazing. Dark humor, brutal action, great character developments and some really sweet and touching moments between Ray and his daughter that don't feel sappy. His daughter is adorable and I usually hate kid actors. No single moment on the show is wasted. Damon Herriman is fantastic and so is Gary, a real and true friend.

I downloaded the first episode of season 1 late one night and thought screw it, it's less than 30 mins so I'll stay up and see what it's about. I binged the rest of the first season right then and there. Granted, it's about 2 to 2.5 hours total but it was 2 am already lol.

More people need to watch this show because it is better than whatever they're watching now. And it won't take 12 hours to get to the good stuff.
