Television TV Show Thread

All TV shows in post production and all upcoming TV show seasons being filmed have been halted. At best we will get new shows in 2022.

The Expanse almost made it but was in post production and needs a couple weeks to finish.

Already rewatched TWD, GoT, Justified, Breaking Bad, etc. Im running out of TV....

You seen any of these?
  • Devs
  • Maniac
  • Gangs of London
  • Kingdom (Korean)
  • The Bodyguard
  • Chernobyl
  • Succession
  • The Boys
  • Marvellous Mrs Maisel
  • Hannah
  • Mindhunter
There's plenty of good series out there.

I finally watched Godless and it was my favorite thing I've seen all year. I really enjoyed the cross of cultures between the whites, blacks, and native Americans. All of the characters were very likeable too. Good stuff.

No idea what to watch now though. I'm looking for something that's not too emotionally or psychologically heavy, but not necessarily a comedy either. Any suggestions?

Mr Inbetween is the right amount if comedy and drama, as is Killing Eve. Best shows I've seen this year.

I've seen Mr. inbetween, and you're right. It's amazing. I'll check out killing Eve soon. I've been putting it off because I had the impression that it was a heavy, emotional drama; but a quick google search says it's a dramatic comedy, so it should suit my mood these days. Thanks for the recommendation

VERY similar to Mr Inbetween in it's premise. You should love it.

Mr Inbetween is super addictive & pretty fucking deep.

always leaves me wanting more.
Sometimes I had tears coming out of my eyes it was so funny, same with Killing Eve.

Barry on HBO is really good. It's in a similar vein as those two.

If you like Westerns watch Grisse.

Its actually set in Indonesia, but its basically a western (reminds me a lot in a way of deadwood). About the battle of a small town versus the Dutch. Episode 1 is a bit slow, but episode 2 onwards is great

I wish they'd make a Calvin and Hobbes TV show on Adult Swim with adult humor. Kind of like Family Guy meets Rick and Morty.

Just started that too. It's been pretty good.
@John Mabrey
@Iron Mang
Stick with it....it's very very good. Season1 is (perhaps) a little slower moving , but near the end of S1 it picks up and it's just a helluva ride. superb acting and direction and all the characters are extremely believable in that Missouri setting. There's a few dark twists....

The last kingdom had similar character plots/developments in different settings.
U may like that. I enjoyed both.

can anyone guess which actress this is?

Sandra Oh or Glenn Close?

for me, although i loved Sonoya Mizuno in Maniac, i think she was the weak spot in an otherwise great show. i don't think she brought the show down or anything and it was a fantastic ride, but i think she was asked to do a lot as an actor in her first lead role and i don't think she was always successful.

the show as a whole, though, was great and i loved it.
I'm of the opposite opinion. Sonoya was an eye candy through and through. The idea of the show was interesting, but in the end turned out a bunch of "intellectualistic hughie", imnsho.

Some may call her acting understated, Keanu Reeves-ish even. I liked it. Actually made her more believable in my eyes.

The idea of the series itself is interesting, as nobody really understands that shite, but execution was a bit as if the directors and screenwriters were too much in love with themselves and with their "love child".

Get me wrong or not, I did enjoy the show, butt, I happen to have formed such an opinion, by now. If there's a second season, I will be checking it out.

Thanks @22k for recommending it.

@22k
How am I only now hearing about Maniac for the first time? I didn't know Emma Stone was in a TV show.
That's getting watched this week.
