Television TV Show Thread

Watched the first two episodes of Star Wars Acolyte. Needs more something something. Wasted use of Carrie Anne Moss. Need to see who is this bad guy master, how did his apprentice get good enough to whoop Jedi master ass.

Haven't bothered to watch a Disney Star Wars show since Mandolorian Season 2 & the 2nd half of Book of Bobba Fett, but from what I hear according to the 1st episode of Ahsoka & 1st episode of Acolyte...

...knives are far more lethal than lightsabers.

Started The Expanse and I'm getting close to the end of the 3rd season. Very good show, I love sci-fi and I'm surprised it took me so long to check it out. Heard really good things for a while and it lives up to what I heard.

Interesting story, very good characters, casted and acted well IMO. Well built world with solid political distinction between the Belt, Earth and Mars. Fun twists and turns so far.

I like it!

There's an Elizabeth Olsen show on either MAX or HULU or Paramount+ where description said she comes up with idea to have an affair with a guy. Is this any good?

My backlog is:
Mayor of Kingstown S3
X-Men 97
Banshee S3 & S4
1923 bottom half
Lioness
Dark Matter
Sugar
Sand Land
My backlog is:
too many to list in this space lol

Just saw this tweet...

..With this tweet directly underneath it.

Disney: We need to increase the wokeness in our new Star Wars series, we still aren't getting the message across....

"Disney hires woke lesbian to create The Acolyte"

Woke lesbian creator: I know, how about we have two black witch space lesbians and say that the force impregnated them and then they give birth to twins who are also possibly lesbians and they become super powerful force wielders.

And fans that don't like it are sexist & homophobic.

With that formula you can't lose, it's a home run!

My wife and I started "The Fall" yesterday . . . so far so good.

Just finished rewatching Squid Game for the first time since it released 3 years ago.

It hits just as hard the 2nd time you watch it.

And when you get over the fact it puts the main character, with a heart of gold, as the main POV character... you realise this guy wasn't a villain.

He did what was neccessary to survive for as long as he could, and...
...he sacrificed himself at the end, so the main character could walk out with the money needed to provide for their loved ones.

Rather than agreeing for the game to end, and either of them get any money whatsoever and walking out alive.

He did what was neccessary - for their loved ones to be provided for - at the cost of his own life.

He's the MVP of the series and I hope viewers are intelligent enough to notice this and not view him as a villain.

So happy to hear a new fan of The Expanse. The show needs more love around here. GOAT sci-fi series in my opinion.

Finished watching Sugar. It was okay. I dug the modern noir vibe the show had going. Colin Farrell's character was very likable. Show could have worked better as a 140-minute movie I think, just amped the action a bit. After the ending, I also could see the show working in future seasons as a procedural with Sugar taking new case each episode.

My fiancée and I have been watching Dark Matter. It's actually not that bad. Jennifer Connelly is still a stunner.

Can't wait for Severance S2. The first season, imo, had one of the strongest season finales I've ever seen.

The Elizabeth Olsen show (if it's the same one I'm thinking of where she is a killer...Love and Death..i think) was alright. I'm not mad that I watched it, but it wasn't anything mindblowing either. Kind of quirky in a sense, and interesting enough to keep my attention on a Sunday afternoon.

Just watched all of the 2024 Dark Matter so far.
Pretty good, basically Sliders, but darker.

Still bummed, the old Dark Matter got cancelled,
that was my favorite show.

Teaser Trailer for Zack Snyder's TWILIGHT OF THE GODS; Premieres Sept. 19 on Netflix

The animated series brings Zack Snyder’s daring and spectacular vision of ancient Norse mythology to life, and features the voices of Sylvia Hoeks, Stuart Martin, Pilou Asbaek, John Noble, Paterson Joseph, Rahul Kohli, Jamie Clayton, Kristopher Hivju, Peter Stormare, Jamie Chung, Lauren Cohan, and Corey Stoll, among others. Twilight of the Gods coming to Netflix on September 19, 2024.

In 1923 when the hunter and his cooperative new wife get to Europe, they eat something described as rice floured then fried. Looked a bit crunchy like some sort of fancy thing, a bit like some deep fried Japanese rice ball. What was that and is it good? Do they put anything on the rice before frying it?
