I tried it. I can honestly say I gave Batwoman an honest shot. I just can't.

The acting was meh. The only character with anything resembling a personality is Kate Kane's stepsister. The next best was Kane's love interest. I forget both of their names, though, so that should tell you something. Kane herself just felt like a tryhard, from start to finish. It didn't help that her accent kept slipping from time to time. Also, her narration was FLAT.

The action was ho hum. It wasn't quite Bourne-series shaky Ginsu knife cut cam, but it didn't feel like they had fight choreography worthy of a shot held longer than 1-2 seconds.

The production values weren't bad, though. It didn't feel like a cheap show.

First two episodes of PRIMAL was really good. No dialogue, just some good action and storytelling. Very bloody and plenty of humor also.

Currently watching a few show

prison break (for the first time ever, on s4. Amazing show)
Bates motel s1... meh nothing amazing so far tbh but its okay

Bad blood on Netflix.. s1 was fairly good s2 the female ruined it

Shooter s3. Better than s2 which I'd give 2/10. This season 5 at max. S1 was a solid 8

Still need to watch stranger things s3

Just finished Fleabag.

Pretty good.

Wished they kept the brother in law a "sideline" character rather than made him such a one dimensional dick with lots of screen time during season two.

But, other than that. I liked the show and the characters.

3 episodes into undercover on Netflix. A dutch crime series about undercover agents infiltrating a drug syndicate based on true events. Not normally a fan of subtitles but so far it's worth checking out.

Kevin Feige Upped to Chief Creative Officer of Marvel, Will Take Control Over Marvel TV, Animation and Comics

AqnYLsl.jpg

In a reflection of his growing authority, Marvel president Kevin Feige has also been named the company’s chief creative officer, Disney announced Tuesday. The move puts the overall creative direction of Marvel’s storytelling and content creation across mediums including publishing, film, TV and animation under Feige.

In addition, Marvel TV and Marvel Family Entertainment, which produces animation, are also moving under the Marvel Studios banner, which Feige runs. Marvel has had separate heads running its film, television, publishing and other divisions. The new title for Feige places creative oversight under the veteran executive. He will continue to report to Walt Disney Studios co-chairman and chief creative officer Alan Horn and co-chairman Alan Bergman.

The consolidation has been coming for some time. Marvel Entertainment’s chairman Ike Perlmutter had been moved away from any film input after Feige threatened to leave in 2015. And while Marvel’s TV shows on ABC have been consistently underwhelming, and its Netflix slate of shows cratered, Feige this summer took charge of the new slate of shows that will be appearing on Disney+. Those series will be tied to the wildly popular cinematic universe on which Marvel and Disney have been surfing on in recent years.

(It is unclear what this new structure means for Marvel's current head of TV, Jeph Loeb.)

Changes on the publishing side, the silo which feeds the screened entertainment side, highlight the shift. Dan Buckley will continue as president of Marvel Entertainment, still overseeing publishing’s creative and editorial drive while now reporting to Feige. But Buckley’s duties relating to publishing operations, sales, creative services, games, licensing and events will see him reporting to Perlmutter, who remains chairman.

For the time being, Marvel Entertainment’s creative leads remain the same. Sana Amanat, vp content and character development; CB Cebulski, editor-in-chief and head of global editorial; and Stephen Wacker, vp creative and content development, will continue to report to Buckley. Joe Quesada, executive vp and creative director of Marvel Entertainment, also reports to Buckley.

Am I the only one watching Evil?

It's with Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, Asif Mandvi, and Fitch from Person of Interest. I tentatively started the first episode, and it is actually pretty fucking good. I like all of the main characters, and how you don't quite know if there truly are demons possessing people, or if it really is just some crazy motherfuckers... at least so far.

BONE Animated Series Based on Jeff Smith Comics in the Works at Netflix

Hi8Nevv.jpg

Jeff Smith's critically hailed Bone comic book series is coming to television. Netflix has acquired rights to the award-winning international comics and is developing an animated series as part of its full-court press into the kids programming space.

The streaming giant's Bone series will follow the iconic Bone cousins on an adventure through a vast, uncharted desert and into a mysterious valley filled with wonderful and terrifying creators. Smith is attached to oversee the TV take.

Bone, which Smith began working on at the age of 10, was first published in 1991 and tallied 55 issues until it ended in 2004. The series remains one of the most celebrated comics, earning an impressive 10 Eisner Awards (the highest prize given to a comic) and 11 Harvey Awards. The series is considered a pioneer in comics publishing for kids and served as the launch title for Scholastic's graphic novel imprint, Graphix Books, when it bowed in 2005.

"I’ve waited a long time for this,” Smith said Wednesday in a statement. “Netflix is the perfect home for Bone. Fans of the books know that the story develops chapter by chapter and book by book. An animated series is exactly the way to do this! The team at Netflix understands Bone and is committed to doing something special — this is good news for kids and cartoon lovers all over the world.”

Premiere episode of the Jason Bourne spinoff show TREADSTONE is surprisingly really good. Fantastic action and hand-to-hand combat. The story is not yet completely clear and it continues to weave together a series of events that will likely to interconnect with each other but the characters and the set-up are intriguing enough to follow.

MAYANS M.C. Showrunner Kurt Sutter Fired From FX for Being an "Abrasive Dick"

izY3MhO.jpg

The Kurt Sutter era at FX — and now, Disney — has ended. The Mayans M.C. showrunner has been fired following what sources describe as "multiple complaints" over his behavior on the drama series. Sutter on Thursday detailed his dismissal by FX CEO John Landgraf and Disney TV Studios and ABC Entertainment chairman Dana Walden in a letter sent to the cast and crew of the Sons of Anarchy spinoff, describing himself as an "abrasive dick."

In spite of Sutter's departure, the writer and executive producer's (who also delivered Bastard Executioner to the network in 2015) overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV has not been affected. Sutter renewed that pact in January 2018 and was the first producer to re-sign with 20th TV amid its impending sale to Disney. Sources note that the decision was made Wednesday and Sutter's memo was sent early Thursday.

Sutter has been outspoken about his management style. In a September 2018 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sutter shared that he has in his office a framed copy of a letter he received detailing his "unprofessional behavior" on Sons of Anarchy and with executives at Fox 21. (The letter detailed an incident where he told an exec to "crawl the fuck out of my ass" during a discussion about keeping the biker drama on budget.)

"The reason why that letter was hung up in the first place and the reason why it's still there is not about like, 'Fuck you, I'm a bad ass.' It's about, 'I'm a fuckin' idiot and that behavior creates fucking lawsuits,'" Sutter told THR.

At the time of the interview, Sutter was on the cusp of becoming a Disney employee. When asked about conversations with Landgraf and Walden, his reputation and how he might fit under the more cuddly Disney umbrella, the showrunner made it clear that he was aware of the impending culture shift.

"It was just a conversation about, 'This is the current climate. We don't suspect that you're going to sabotage anything, but we need to do the due diligence," he said at the time. "And at first it was disconcerting because I'm like, 'What does that mean? Does it mean there's a new watchdog on my shoulder?' And it didn't mean any of that. It was basically, 'We know who you are, we know what you can do, we have to make sure that when new entities come in that we can vouch for [you]. And at the very least we can say we have had this conversation.' Then there was, in a very politically delicate way, a 'Are there any skeletons in your closet that are gonna come back and bite us in the ass?' And I was like, 'Well, as far as I know, I didn't Weinstein anybody. I may have upset people, I may have said inappropriate things, but there was not [any of that].' But again, they needed to do the due diligence. And as Landgraf says, 'It's a different climate and you have to acknowledge it and be aware of it and move in step with it.'"

Mayans M.C., currently in the midst of airing its second season, was created by Sutter and Elgin James. A decision on a third season has not yet been determined, but Sutter had already announced that he would be ceding day-to-day showrunner duties to James in the event of its return.
