is it any good?

I think I would have gotten into it if it were just straight up political satire. But the whole sci fi element made me a little leery.

She's very sexy though.

For me, it's not really a good show (but I keep on watching it smh). From the very first episode, it can't find the right footing or the right tone. I know it's meant as a political satire but once they've been replaced, the characters are really, really obnoxious.

There are some frustrating plot holes but I won't bore you with them since you haven't watched it yet.

I'm on episode 8 and it's more tolerable now (it's because I tend to fast forward the scenes focusing on the cartoonish politics).

Ouch! That has got to hurt.

But at least it may put an end to the trend of splitting the last book of a trilogy into 2 movies.

on the plus side, they are actually giving it a final chapter. With the weak returns they could have conceivably just said fuck it and not even done a TV movie.

Franchise fatigue is legit, man. Final Hunger Games was the lowest grossing in the series.

With the thing already filmed? I would imagine that even an unpromoted theatrical run would help recoup some of the budget.

I'm about to start, even though the premise sounds iffy. But Mary Elizabeth Winstead is one of those actresses I'll watch in anything, so I'll give it a try.

Watched the pilot. It's pretty iffy, but i'll give it an episode or two before I decide it's worth my time.

Van Helsing

Terrible first episode.

Kelly Overton used to be my pick for Wonder Woman actress a few years ago. Tekken-era Overton was the bomb.

Checked Google images and you're right, Tekken-era Overton was hot!

I started it, but I just can't get into it.

I think with better directing they could manage to pull off this amalgam of very different themes (sci fi body snatchers + relevant political satire) but it's just not working, IMO.

Muscle suits? Really?

So, apparently Supergirl isn't the only series inexplicably casting actors who don't even lift.

Comic-Con Trailer for THE EXORCIST at Fox

Synopsis: Widely regarded as the greatest horror movie ever made, “The Exorcist” broke box office records and terrified audiences around the world. Now, more than four decades after the Academy Award-nominated film, The Exorcist returns as a TV series.

Directed by Rupert Wyatt (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”), The Exorcist is a propulsive psychological thriller following two very different priests tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession. Father Thomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera, “Sense8,” “The Chosen”) is the new face of the Catholic Church: progressive, ambitious and compassionate. He runs a small but loyal parish in the suburbs of Chicago. He has no idea that his quiet life is about to change forever.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, another priest finds himself locked in a life-and-death struggle with evil. Father Marcus Brennan (Ben Daniels, “Flesh and Bone,” “House of Cards”) is a modern-day Templar Knight, an orphan raised since childhood by the Vatican to wage war against its enemies. Father Marcus is everything Father Tomas is not: relentless, abrasive and utterly consumed by his sacred mission.

Caught in the middle is the Rance family, members of Tomas’ parish. On the surface, they’re a normal, suburban family, but all is not as it seems in this household. The patriarch, Henry Rance (guest star Alan Ruck, “Spin City,” “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”), is slowly but surely losing his mind. Eldest daughter Katherine (Brianne Howey, Scream Queens) has become a recluse who refuses to leave her room. Her younger sister, Casey (Hannah Kasulka, “The Fosters”), thinks she’s hearing strange noises coming from inside the walls. And mother Angela (Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Geena Davis, “Commander in Chief,” “Thelma & Louise”) has been plagued by recurring nightmares, each more frightening than the last.

Angela believes there is something in the house, a demonic presence, growing stronger by the day. Desperate, she begs Father Tomas for help, unwittingly setting the naïve young priest on a collision course with Father Marcus. Separately, each faces an insurmountable task, but together they become the only hope against an evil force that has been mobilizing for centuries.

What the fuck is this? The trailer does NOT look good.

Here's the thing: Turning The Exorcist into a series is actually kind of intriguing but NOT that like that. Way too Hollywood. Making a good demonic possession movie (or TV show) is a very precise and nuanced art.

I can only think of two good ones: The Exorcist and The Exorcism of Emily Rose. All the others descend into farce.

I just tried watching this. It was painful. Bad acting, directing, writing, production values, etc....

You know how everyone ITT struggles through a Killjoys episode? Imagine if this show made Killjoys look like The Wire.

Just to be clear, I wasn't endorsing BraindDead. I was just checking who else besides me is suffering from watching the show. :D

As I said, the premise alone sounds really iffy. I'm only checking it out of good will towards Winstead. My expectations couldn't be lower.

So about last night's Killjoys...

... Am I the only one thinking Sabine is an undercover Level 6 and D'Avin just fucked the Plasma out of her?

We've seen that something in his blood neutralizes and repels the plasma. Maybe it extends to other bodily fluids of his. They didn't seem to be wearing protection.
