turn-based war games like advance wars?

In US PSN, couldn't find any Super Robot Wars in PSN Store, but in Singapore PSN, found Japanese Super Robot Wars 30 that listed English and also found a free demo that said something like the demo save file is compatible with the full game.

I'm loving this old war game on my phone called "great big war game" and I'm wondering what to play next.

I've heard people say Advance Wars is very similar, so I might check that out now that they have a version for the nintendo switch. I kinda don't want to play this type of game on my phone anymore as it's too hard on my eyes on such a small screen.

But I'd be down for some more turn based war games if I could get them on PS3, PS4, Wii-U, or Switch, as those are the 4 consoles I have.
Try this one: TINY METAL: FULL METAL RUMBLE. It's no Advance Wars, but it will scratch your itch until the offical comes out.

If you can get Into the Breach on Wii it might be your jam. You control a squad of 3 mechs and try to beat back invading insectoid kaijus, it's one of the only games I have every achievement, it puts a high priority on positioning and putting together clever turns.

Midnight Suns is made by the x-com guys so you could check that out. Only just been released too. It's card based so slightly different i guess. I'm a couple hours in and it seems pretty fun though.

It also has a lot of RPG elements with talking to people and resource gathering outside of combat. That might drag the game down for some people if they're just into the turn based combat.

They're old games but try and track down the Talonsoft games like The Operational Art of War. They aren't casual like Advance Wars though, very steep learning curve.

Master of Magic and Master of Orion

Everyone is saying it but ill say it again, Xcom series. I can get lost in those games and replay those often. It's rare when a game can invest you in your team like that one does, there's times I'm fighting to save a guy that has survived 20-30 missions and if he dies you feel that loss.
Id almost turn the game off immediately, hoping the death wouldnt stick.

So I got the advance wars 1&2 reboot for the switch and I'm having fun with it.

The story and dialogue are super childish though. Didn't expect that. It's like the game was made for 7-year olds. But I didn't know how many 7-year olds would be into tactical strategy games lol. Strange choice by Nintendo.

I also got "into the breach" on my tablet thanks to Netflix games, and it's great. Really loving that one.

I’ve heard great things about Unicorn Overlord and it’s currently on sale. You can get it around 30 to 35 bucks

If you like Xcom style games, Stirring Abyss is a nice little low budget indie gem. Its basically a smaller budget version of Xcom, but underwater and instead of aliens its Cthulu. Several of the same mechanics are present, like base building (but its a submarine), trees/skills skills (some of them are "Madness" skills so you get cthulu powers). And overall it feels like a nice little labor of love to the genre. Like I said, its low budget, but the aesthetics are good and its totally worth a playthrough to scratch the Xcom itch.

I believe for PS4 Gundam super deformed has two different games like Super Robot Wars and I think both are available in English in Singapore region. The first one works on USA PS4 using a PSN account made with SE Asia region/store. Didn't start the second one yet.

PS3 had a Sega Genesis collection with Shining Force maybe two games in the series.

The genre you're talking about is TRPG (Tactical RPG) But if you want something actually like Advance Wars then the main spiritual Successor is Wargroove (Fantasy instead of Military Theme) and there is an upcoming gaming called Warside which is an homage so close it might as well be a ripoff.

Anyway despite what @TKing @empsim and @DrakeEB2 say, the actual 'game like Advance Wars' is Dai Senryaku. Specifically the 7th entry which is the only mainline one with a western release.

It's too bad it's fantasy themed. I really don't like the fantasy genre at all. It's so overdone. I quite enjoy modern vehicles or even futuristic sci Fi.

I might give it a shot if i get desperate, but I've started many fantasy themed games and just lose interest. I think shining force is the only one I actually finished.

I think Shining Force 2 was better than the first one.

I think in one of the SD G Generation Gundam games, some of the snipers had extra long range for shooting. I remember in Super Robot Wars 4, the Cybaster had very long movement range and a big multi-hit area of damage attack.

Into the breach is a quality game but it's a puzzle game pretending to be a strategy mech game.

Lol I listed like 3 other games for you to check out. Wargroove was just one example.
Also if you don't mind going retro....

That game isn't even turn based. It's not like advance wars it's more like Ogre Battle.

I made a thread about Sword of Convaleria for android. It's free but it is probably the best TRPG I have played in a long time.
