And it's not just their right, it's their damn duty to monitor what their employees do during their working hours.

If they talk about how the BBQ was at the weekend, they won't get fired.

I'm certainly not in favor of discrimination in the workplace based on religion or sexual orientation. But there are certainly other ways to share your fantasies and it doesn't reflect badly on the employer. Whether it's the government or the private sector. Doing that with computers and chats your employer provides is just plane stupid.
And the content of their conversation, if even half of it is true, definitely casts a bad light. And no private employer and certainly no government can afford something like that.

I mean the conversations are still between individuals, they've got nothing to do with the organization and the only reason it's public is because of them being revealed deliberately to shame these people and fire them. Coworkers say lots of things to each other during work hours.
