TUF 27

I strongly believe in Israel and the size of the cage wont deter me. Going big.

The small cage factor kills a lot of my confidence in Adesanya, Pena, and Caceres

Definitely think the small cage helps Tavares vs Israel. I don't think it will make a huge difference with Pena and Smullen. Pena actually scrambles well when put up against the cage vs leg attacks and he has such better cardio and volume where he is going to just massacre Smullen. I really think Pena wins in the 90 - 95 percent range. Smullen is not going to have enough offense to win a decision. His only chance is some sort of random fluke finish.

Absolute blowout winners

So you guys watched the CNBC reality show with him lol. I was hoping they'd use somebody better. Showed research they did, angles they used, how they were making their own lines on things. The show just seemed to be his people's vices and (in) fighting and never a reason for a bet, he seemed to be just randomly picking a side.

Stevens has a YouTube channel now with him and Skip doing podcast episodes. It's oddly fascinating in small doses, but a lot of it isn't all that interesting to me since I don't follow sports whatsoever other than fighting.

Anyone found any videos of de la rosa? Only 1 on fight pass

if you seach for Montana Stewart instead of De La Rosa on youtube there is alot of grappling fights and some old mma fights

vs Dern

cheers man, weirdly the search only brings up her last fight on my FP.
ya TUF fights dont show up sadly with a search.. i go to wiki for the TUF season and see what episode said fighter fought on and then find that on fight pass

Not Pena... his last two opponents, better strikers than Smullen, had their back to the fence for large portions of the fight. Smullen is the guy who likes to spam kicks at a distance until he finds an opportunity for a TD.

I am liking Bravo, though. Stylistic matchup is great, and Caceres, although he's faced good competition, has no impressive wins on his record other than a very green Pettis.

would love if you could elaborate on how bravo has a great stylistic match-up. personally i believe the opposite.

Smullen is not a striker at all? he is a wrestler/grinder

Yeah. Caceres wins this unless he's completely done, IMO. Bravo's got some decent striking technique, but should be totally outskilled as a grappler and Caceres can still take a hard beating.

I disagree, I think that Bravo's pressure is going to be too much for him. The small cage also favours Bravo.
Caceres isn't going to have space to work, and he isn't exactly a great takedown artist.

Bravo spent some time getting controlled against Mr. Miracle Kneebar Puelles in the first round of that fight, I just think that Bravo hasn't fought the strength of schedule that really helps to make an informed judgement on him.

Bravo also incredibly hittable based on his 2 UFC bouts. I think he's only successfully blocked one kick.

anybody been able to find any of Zuñiga's recent fights vs Salazar or Bendei, Chalo? really want to fade Gunther here but need some footage besides his TUF fight

no way i could ever back a fighter like Gunther =/ his striking is on the same level as Dandois lol if he cant get takedowns he is fucked... decided to pass for now since its likely small cage and i have no clue how Zuniga's tdd is

I think this is the Chalo fight does have it dated similar time of fight too

4.30 r2, does show Zuniga working his way back up off a take down.

Otherwise yeah had similar thoughts regarding Gunther, just hard to get on someone when they haven't even fought with a grappler. Maybe a small flyer on Zuniga decision or in a lotto parlay.

Israel

-not fazed by any replacement fighters for brad
-focuses on his own skills, but his coaches look at the style match up they even looked
at the other replacement in thiago santos.
-seen the style many times
-75-4, with 29 kos, no draws is his official kickboxing record. 6-1 boxing amateur records
so has seen brads style fighters many times before.
-first time in LA, will bask in it after the win
-doesn't want to slip at any point, wants to put on a clinic so others remember his fight over dc/stripe
-has low expectations since most are focused on ufc 226 but plans on changing mindsets afterwards
-not dwelling on the 13-0, knows he can smoke these days since he does get beaten in the gym daily
but he keeps coming back and winning regardless.
-says is aware after his last fight knows opponents may think his weakness is off his back or against the cage, but does not focus on this since he knows is much better.
-does not believe in rankings, brad is only here due to him
-last fight felt he could do 2 more rounds even and is ready for 5 rounds but won't need it here
-says brad loses to higher level competition so same will happen again.
-has bigger guys in the gym then brad even an 6.5" hw too and he grapples with them too
-wants either hall or costa winner next
-likes darren till, knows he wont be an ww too long so wants to make a superfight between both
-trains with a world champ kickboxer with good wrestling even, has been doing ji jitsu 2010, 2013 wrestling also properly.
-less then 3 no 2 rounds to finish brad
-discusses how people get uncomfortable with him and have to shoot for a td on him
-wants to fight 5 times each year

Brad

-says israel can say hes the A corner not bothered about it
-if bisping was not retiring he would have got him
-says israel is delusional and he looks in the mirror saying hes the best so finds it funny
since none of it will work once in the cage with him.
-sees the fight going everything with striking and on the ground also
-says israel good kickboxing record, but in mma not fought anyone at all and no one that
has come close to him. He asked for this fight and hes gonna get it.
-sitting around 8 rank but wants to get higher and to top so wants someone in top 5 next
-likes whittaker, jacare and weidman next but not looked past israel yet does respect him.
-impressed israel got this main card chance otherwise not shown anything in mma yet
-big mma experience advantage, knows isral has 70 odd kickboxing fights but discusses different
times and rules for kickboxing so has bigger advantage under mma terms.
-will beat israel where ever the fight goes too

Yeah, but he doesn't press the action in the striking... he actually likes distance, which is not good in the small cage. If Pena's strategy was to stick and move, the small cage would be bad... but since he will likely own the center and be pressuring and inducing, it's not much of a difference.
