Alright, a little while ago, I had decided to go back to training and I did. I made a thread in another forum to ask which school would be best. After going to the gym, I had a great workout but sadly, had no way of affording a monthly membership + the year expenses and the equipment. I've always been the type to gain weight really quickly but lose it just as fast.

I spent three years working nights and have accumulated some excess baggage around the stomach area. I used to weigh between 166-172 when not working out and when I did, I was about 160 and just skinny but at least in shape. I'm now at 193lbs, maybe 200 by now and I feel heavy. I was never one to diet (well not since HS wrestling) and I don't really have access to a gym or anything. I have a parc and a living room and of course food.

I would like to go back to my original weight by working out but have no routine or diet. Was hoping the people on this part of the forum could give me something to work with... What should I be eating, how much, when? Easiest way to lose weight? What kind of exercise should I do? What about supplements? I've never taken one, not sure if I am fond of the idea. Despite being fat, I've never really taken any kind of supplement, pill, medication or things like that, so I am at least to say very uneducated on the matter. Oh, and how do people feel about the Bas Rutten MMA workout? Yay or Nay for a good workout?

So...any ideas? This tubby needs to lose weight and eat properly and does not know where to start. Thanks. Any help is appreciated ;) Some might be rewarded with invites to some torrent sites, depending the info of course ;)

Best start is to burn some calories by having your brain pour over this information:

    http://www.sherdog.net/forums/f15/attn-new-official-d-s-faq-718093/

The 7 Habits towards the bottom is a key article, so make sure you don't miss it.

Bas' routine is f'in great. You won't go wrong there. Add some variety by doing HIIT (Tabata Sprints, Enhanced Interval Training, etc.), metcon, or Ross Enamait (I highly suggest Infinite Intensity and Never Gymless) routines. Lots of readily available info in the Conditioning forum.

As far as supplements, the one Dave Barr sticky has what you need: protein, fish oil, and greens powder. I'd also invest in Creatine (cheap enough) and Beta Alanine to allow you to push a little harder and last a little longer with the lactate inducing intensity exercises.

Basically, it's important to have your nutrition dialed in properly before you worry about supps. Eat via the 7 Habits for several weeks until you understand proper nutrition. Then start to reduce the calories while maintaing adherence to the habits. Approach your calorie deficit slowly, keep the intensity fairly high, and evaluate your progess scientifically and you won't just lose weight but you'll improve your performance and body composition greatly.

Thanks a lot :) I have a lot of reading ahead of me, as well as planning.
