Per CNN and some mainstream news sites:
Mar-A-Lago wants the Dept of Labor to approve 61 foreign worker visa applications (H2-B) to fullfill these positions:
Cooks (21 visas for cooks)
Servers (40 for servers)

Can we say hypocrite?
A dubious argument can be made for cooks, by claiming the resort needs foreign cusine experts, but 21 cooks? And considering that we have lots of people in America from all corners of the world, the local pool of cooks competent in foreign dishes should satisfy the resort's needs.

Trump has previously claimed it is hard to find workers. Listen, if you pay a good wage, Americans will do the job. Trump is a billionaire so why is it hard for him to pay a nice enough wage that attracts American workers. The wages listed for these foreign workers isn't low, but isn't great either. Small restaurants here (sub-urban MidWest town) have the same or higher wage. A fancy place like Mar-A-Lago can afford to pay more. There must be a lot of Trump supporters and non-supporters eager to work there, cause the place is perceived as glamorous and they get to see powerful and famous people.

Last year Mar-A-Lago was given 70 foreign worker visas. For maids, cooks and servers.

Some news sites say 61 visas and some say 40 visas.

Visa's are legal, right? Is he violating any laws?
What exactly is the problem here?

You know employees aren't paid from the owner's personal checking account, right?

Oh yeah, I'm sure non-Trump supporters would just be lining up to work there. They'd be there throwing eggs, hitting people with bike locks and shouting "nooooo" into the heavens if they could get anywhere near the place.

Wake me up when he hires illegals.

If he would pay a good wage he could hire Americans to do the work. Instead they are bringing in foreigners at below market wages.

You have any evidence of that?
What is the hotel paying these guys? Why should any business pay more than the going rate for said labor?

His whole schtick of "America First" , helping American industry, cracking down on Silicon Valley's abuse of the H1-B visas, criticizing Harley Davidson for building bikes overseas.

The going rate for labor is upended when you have an endless supply of cheap foreign labor.

Legal Immigration with a sponsor. Trump should be a hero for helping these people get Visa's..

Bringing in folks on visas is hurting American cooks by artificially keeping the wages for cooks below what the market would otherwise demand. Imagine if the auto manufacturers brought foreign workers in on visas to work assembly lines in order to avoid raising wages enough to attract American workers. The definition of market rate for any job is the rate at which someone will do the job. The very fact that they are unable to fill 40 positions means that by definition they are paying below the market rate for that job. I assure you that if they raised the wages they would get people to do the work.

He owns the place, he has the financial means to pay them a good wage. You are assuming all non Trump supporters are proactively engaged in opposing Trump. There are a lot of people who would love to work there for the perceived benefits.

what happened to America first?

Hurting American workers, by not hiring them and lowering wages. I thought Trump was all about "America First" and MAGA.

Watch the Trumpers make excuses in this thread.

This is why I respect people like Ann Coulter, cause she calls him out on shit when he strays far from his campaign sentiments.

Sounds like a good argument against illegal immigration, to me.
Is he paying less than the going rate?

and if Americans apply.... they get this screen. I wonder how they can twist this?

He's making you his bitch right in front of your eyes, going full swamp monster, and you're defending him.

Why does he live by a different set of rules than the ones he makes? This is the definition of hypocrisy.

All bullshit aside: assuming they’re approved, does that mean farmers nationwide could apply for and also be approved for the same? And if not, how does a hotel justify visas that a farmer cannot replicate? If you’re getting visas for maids without any further consideration, an unskilled position, I’m not sure why agriculture workers aren’t granted the same. Do farmers not try for fear of their workforce being deported? Is agriculture considered a special industry as far as visas are concerned?

I have no angle here, I’m woefully ignorant of the visa process.

H1-B visas and H2-B visa's are not the same.
Note the word "abuses". Is Trump abusing the visa system here? Isn't this exactly what H2-B visas are for?
Or are you suggesting that we close the border?
