He was one of the first round of nominees that needed to be vetted while even some Republicans didn't trust him. It's not like he didn't dismiss most of those guys for more pliant yes men. He would have replaced Wray too of he could.

It’s strange you are immediately jumping to Trump is a political victim.
He left office in 2020 it’s 2022, 2 years is plenty of time to turn over documents you are in possession illegally. If he gave them back immediately then you could chalk it up to ignorance but not after 2 years of knowingly breaking the law. As a country, nobody should be above the law no matter how much you like them.

Trump already returned the documents they asked for. But because it is Trump, they want to be double sure there aren't more. This is from February of this year.
