Trump didn’t answer when he was Subpoenaed by New York. There was a very high chance the documents would have been shredded if they’d sent a subpoena. And it’s hard to prove a document was destroyed vs doing a raid and proving they’re at his residence when taken.

I’m just surprised places have paper files at all anymore.

Trump didnt answer a civil subpoena, which happens all the time. This is a criminal matter and a criminal subpoena carries much more weight than a fine. You’re committing a crime if you dont answer a criminal subpoena or destroy evidence.

If the feds have PC to believe the docs are there, they would have PC to believe they were destroyed if the criminal subpoena isnt responded to.
