As I understand it, they don't want to film in Hollywood anymore for financial reasons.

A lot of shows and movies are filmed up in Toronto and Vancouver because of government subsidies.

Unless Trump is going to compensate them for moving production back to the US, they are going to take losses.

Also, this will penalize American productions that film on location out of the country for authenticity.

It just doesn't make much sense.

not just subsidies but when the writers union and IATSE renegotiated their contracts the studios just said sure and then went overseas and hired non-union. Goes for tv as well

Does anyone know what % of vehicles sold in the US are manufactured in the US? I suspect it's relatively high.

The volatility of these changes should be a huge concern to a manufacturer in the US. If they increase capacity to meet the new demand, they might take years doing so and by that time the tariffs are gone and the money is wasted. If they don't increase capacity, and the tariffs stay, then they are losing a great deal of potential money.

In the meanwhile for customers in the US the cost of vehicles will go up.

Actually all of the U.S. auto manufacture extremely happy about the tariffs and have been planning for them for over 3 years now.

It didn’t matter who became president in 2024 whoever won was going to have to put tariffs on China if they wanted to keep car manufacturering as an industry in the U.S. which brings in billions.

No one is going to compete with China on price because they can use child labor, actual slave labor and their auto workers make $3.50 an hour.
