Economy Trump's April 2nd Tariffs

Too many dummies led to a dummy in charge now

Nicholas Gilbert, who tends 1,400 cows at his dairy farm in Potsdam, close to the Canada border, told The Atlantic that a recent order of livestock feed cost him $2,200 extra due to tariffs. The feed came from Ontario, and he mistakenly believed his supplier at the Canadian mill would cover the difference.

ahhh yes. the suppliers are just going to cover the difference out of the goodness of their hearts and everybody will live happily ever after the end instead of simply just passing the added costs down to the consumers.

but hey, it will be worth paying all those thousands of extra dollars every time he needs to feed his cows just as long as he gets to read some mean tweets out of it. that's what he voted for.

are people really this dumb?
Of course the cost will go to the consumers.

What’s bad faith about my post? Not a person was talking about consumer confidence. It was all 401k posts and Wall Street.

Anyway — @Deorum is Massie our only hope??

In so far as individual liberties are concerned, yeah. There's plenty about Massie's ideology that I don't (or wouldn't) subscribe to, but he is A+ on that front. He also possesses genuine principles that aren't abandoned even in the face of tremendous backlash from his own party, with a lot of it coming directly from Trump himself and his numerous public threats to end Massie's political career.
Real ID is #1 bullshit

I want to congratulate americans by bringing yours so dreamed jobs back. I just saw Trump backpedaled (again) and I imagine it was because you guys achieved your goal with all this tariff BS. Hard to remember a more successful international trade policy than what just happened.

And the cost was a bargain!! Companies only lost 10% of their value on average, without any clear advantage at all!! This is indeed the MAGA golden age after all...
Hey asshole. I'm American and have nothing to do with the buffoonery that is the Donald Trump phenomenon. I couldn't stand Trump and people like him long before he even got in to politics.

He's been an absolute lummox his entire life - I honestly believe that he has the average intelligence of about an 8th grader.

Trump is pure ego, and that's it.

So please, try to refrain from painting with broad strokes. Just because 30 something percent of this country is dumb as a box of rocks and melts their brain either watching Fox news all day, or being shoveled rage porn vomit from their favorite social media algorithm by the second, doesn't mean that the rest of us are as retarded. They are just more rude, loud, and obnoxious about it.

US lays out plans to hit Chinese ships with port fees

"The Trump administration has unveiled its plan to impose port fees on Chinese ships as it tries to revive shipbuilding in the US and challenge China's dominance of the industry."

Considering how much money is at stake here and the warnings it was coming it's reasonable to assume China tasked dozens if not hundreds of professionals within the country to formulate strategies and war plan scenarios, responses, how to impact maximum damage while minimizing damage received from tariffs.

Thousands upon thousand of hours of work and research, analysis, relative strengths weaknesses etc.

Then Trump comes out with a piece of cardboard and a plan that looks like an intern punched it into chatGPT the day before.

What an awesome post about just how absolutely moronic this administration is. It's like a Saturday Night Live skit or comedian's routine. And what boggles the mind beyond comprehension are the people who continually support this, and defend it with enthusiasm.

If you don't mind, I'd like to use you post in my sig.

Cheers.

Yup.

Foreign suppliers always does have clauses and additional paragrafs in contracts what will happen if tariffs etc will get changed by government in country A and country B.

Business isn't charity and businessmans should avoid losses, otherwise investors, co owners will get into mad mode, gubbermint will be suspicious and all these might schedule audits and investigations.... and ask.

Custom duties and fees, import tariffs are in the end of game paid by end customer...VAT too ...

Are the farmers having fun yet?

China Halts U.S. LNG Imports Amid Tariff War

China hasn’t imported liquefied natural gas from the United States since early February, as the tariff war hit energy trade and could have long-term consequences for U.S. LNG export contracts.

The last LNG cargo to arrive in China from America was a tanker from Corpus Christi, which docked in the southern Chinese province of Fujian on February 6, according to shipping data cited by the Financial Times.

The Chinese tariffs on U.S. goods, including energy products, and the broader trade war between the world’s two biggest economies could have long-term consequences on the ability of new U.S. LNG export projects to attract anchor offtake commitments, analysts warn.

What’s more, Chinese traders have grown cold towards new long-term commitments for future supply from the United States, instead seeking long-term deals with gas producers in the Middle East and the Asia Pacific.

  • Reuters: quarterly imports of liquefied natural gas into China are going to be 22% lower than a year earlier.
  • More spot cargoes have become available for Europe.
  • Drewry research: Europe to boost relations with other LNG suppliers, notably from Africa and Qatar.

So middle east going to get even richer at the expense of US? Is this the art of the deal?
