Economy Trump's April 2nd Tariffs

You mean because foreign countries might stop buying them?
They could stop buying and start dumping what they currently hold. There's already been an increased sell off, and now with yields rising we are about to get double fucked.

Remember in ww2 when that crazy dude on meth thought he was king of the world and overextended his country into trying to have multiple battles on multiple fronts?

No matter how big you think you are, you'll fall

yep which is why dumb Donald is not the man for the job. You do not tariff the world when getting in a tariff war with the world while going after China.
A dude who did not fail at running casino’s would shore up trade with Allies, do incentives for US manufacturing and then go at China, instead we got a dumb dude listening to Peter Navarro of all people.
#TrumpPuts are almost up 200% because I knew Trump was dumb. Following Warren Buffet was the smartest thing I did. Best month I ever had in the stock market. Thanks Trump.

Trump tariffs threaten global growth and raise risk of ‘severe shocks’, says Bank of England

Levies have heaped pressure on government finances and increased chance of ‘further sharp correction’, report warns

Kalyeena Makortoff Banking correspondent

Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs have put global growth at risk, the Bank of England has warned, heaping pressure on government finances and increasing the likelihood of “severe shocks” to the financial system.

The Bank’s financial policy committee (FPC) said its global risk environment had deteriorated and “uncertainty had intensified” since its last update in November, with US tariff announcements contributing to a “material increase in risks to global growth” and inflation levels.

Those concerns have knocked investor confidence, and increased the risk of a “further sharp correction” in financial markets that could cause stress for indebted companies and make it harder for governments to borrow money and refinance their debts.

The Bank warned that higher government bond yields – effectively the interest rate countries pay on their debt – would “reduce their capacity to respond to future shocks”. Government bonds, including the traditionally safe haven US treasuries, have been undergoing a dramatic sell-off since Trump announced a fresh wave of tariffs on dozens of countries overnight.

The FPC said that a big shift in the nature and predictability of global trade could also reduce the likelihood of international cooperation, particularly in tackling global challenges and shocks, “which could reduce resilience of the financial systems”. Overall, “severe shocks are more likely”, the committee warned.

High geopolitical tensions would also have implications outside global trade, the FPC said, creating a heightened risk of cyber-attacks that could amplify other stresses and disrupt payments and financial services to UK households and businesses.

It said that since its last meeting in mid-November “global trade policy uncertainty had intensified and some risks had crystallised. The United States had made a wide range of tariff announcements on 2 April and some governments had responded with their own tariff announcement. This had contributed to a material increase in the risks to global growth and a weakening of the central outlook, as well as increased uncertainty over the outlook for inflation globally.”

The comments come after the German finance minister, Jörg Kukies, said on Wednesday that the country’s economy was at risk of another recession as a result of the trade tensions.

The investment bank JP Morgan has also estimated that there was a 60% chance of the world economy entering recession by year-end.

However, the Bank of England has tried to ease some fears, stressing that financial markets were operating in an orderly fashion and that the UK banking system remained resilient.

lol at richest country in the world going at it with a country that until 20 years ago was 95% peasantry - China can afford to lose tariff war because its population has been used to poverty since forever (with only current generation having access to all the western life comforts)
while middle class and rich americans can hold out for exactly how long without their 2 cars, cheap gas, food ordering, game consoles?

It won't come to that and no one who says it will believes it.

Trump flip flops on a daily basis - how do you know what will it come to?
Trump supporters couldn't have predicted this shitshow, that Trump would cause, during the elections, yet are now confident in his future actions?

Trump is a fucking moron. One man shouldn't be able to have this much pull. The GOP are pussies.

The GOP have been pushed between a rock and a hard place. Those that support Trump (i.e. Taylor-Greene and Tuberville) have to keep holding on because they have to go back to very solid Trump voting districts. However, at this rate America and some parts of the world are headed for a recession. Going against the Trump and GOP agenda is a risk but also doing nothing while the economy goes down hill would be career suicide, but keep in mind voters will vote Repub even under the worst circumstances. Look at Texas. Cruz literally left their state out in the cold during the winter storm years ago and here we are years later and he is still a United States Senator.

Republicans are looked upon as a group that helps the economy but for the past 40 years they have always been the group that is in power when recessions happen. Honesty, I'm not sure the bar is low enough for the GOP, as a whole, to revolt against Trump.

I just heard something funny Elon was going to make powerwalls for China in a Chinese factory and also ship them back to the US now will be hit with tariffs both ways.

Not happening. The people that'll be in those sewing factories will be Latinos.
Well, those factories aren't going to happen in the first place. Would you want to invest money in setting up a factory in the US now when there's a chance the tariffs could suddenly go away for whatever reason at any time anyway? That in itself is a ton of risk to take for a chance at a presumably very small reward (because GOOD LUCK trying to make those factories profitable even if the tariffs stay). And people who have enough money to build a factory generally aren't retarded and don't like to throw their money down the toilet. So there is exactly zero chance of lots of new manufacturing facilities popping up in the US because of these tariffs. Zilch.

Trumps plan, if he has any, is about as smart as you would expect from someone who for a decade now has been the most ridiculed individual on the planet. The fact that people are stupid / pathetic enough to attempt to defend this stuff just leaves you at a loss for words, tbh.

Off topic but this was news to me. North Korea Sherddogers here on the thread lol.

"
  • Fortune 500 companies have unwittingly hired thousands of software engineers who claim to be American developers but are actually North Korean citizens using stolen or fake identities. Through legitimate employment, the IT workers are illegally funneling their salaries to Kim Jong Un’s regime to fund prohibited weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs. The U.S. Treasury, State Department, and FBI collectively estimate the IT workers scam has generated hundreds of millions each year since 2018.
About 95% of the résumés Harrison Leggio gets in response to job postings for his crypto startup g8keep are from North Korean engineers pretending to be American, the founder estimates. He even once interviewed a job seeker who claimed to have worked at the same Manhattan-based cryptocurrency exchange as he did, during the time he worked there."

Man for someone on an MMA forum we see people tear shit up all the time as a noob. Maybe he's an idiot. Maybe he's a genius. Maybe he's an idiot savant.

Sure it happens from time to time, but the guy I was responding to ain't one of them. He claims that all the tariffs were priced in by the market which is demonstrably false since the markets would either have made their move well in advance (which they didn't) or not moved at all when the tariffs were announced (they most certainly moved). That's not what happened so he's just plain wrong. Then there's also the fact that the efficient market hypothesis which posits that the market knows all this stuff in advance and prices it in accordingly is total fucking bullshit. This is basic level stuff that any experienced or knowledgeable trader should know. That's why I said he wouldn't know what a Form 8-K is if he was beaten over the head with one.

JD Vance, don't you have more important things to do than posting on Sherdog?

This feels like the end of the USA. Life is going to get so much harder for everyone. I expect protests to get absolutely massive soon and there may actually be violence. Something like 60% of Americans can't afford a 500 dollar emergency fund and now we're going to pay double on nearly everything we buy. LOL we are so absolutely fucked. Poverty will increase and as a result more crime will occur as people get desperate. I'll be surprised if Trump doesn't have more attempts on his life soon honestly, possibly even from within. This is apocalyptic levels of destruction. We cannot sustain this.

Best of luck, brother.
Much love from Canada and I hope you guys can get rid of that cocksucker sooner than later, the world would be better for it. (through legal means of course)
