Economy Trump's April 2nd Tariffs

Tesler already looks like the elevator scene from The Shining pre market. Tomorrow is going to be another big money day for me. Thanks Trump.

  • Stock markets in Asia have opened sharply lower, as President Donald Trump's tariffs continue to send shockwaves around the world
  • Earlier, US stock market futures were also sharply down, indicating that Wall Street shares will fall when they open later
  • Donald Trump, speaking to reporters on Air Force One, has defended his tariff policy, saying "sometimes you have to take medicine to fix something"
  • He also says that jobs and investment are returning to the US, and the world will soon stop treating America badly

---

Asian stock markets appreciated what Trump was trying to do.

Oh wait!

It cant be another -5% again, right? Was there ever a peace time non international situation (like covid) when markets got 3 consecutive -5% in the last 80 years? Holy fuck it is a inside job to break the US.

-5%?

No, mate, it's not -5%

HSBC shares plunge in Hong Kongpublished at 02:54

The Hong Kong-listed shares of UK-based banking giants HSBC and Standard Chartered have plunged.

In early trading on Monday HSBC was down by more than 15%, while Standard Chartered fell by 18%.

The Hong Kong stock market was closed on Friday for a public holiday.

No, it's definitely not -5% lol

I mean, far from me not believing it could get ugly. Something like -10...-15 through the whole week. But you are talking circuit breaker type of shit. Futures dont seem to be that bad (even tho its bad enough to open ate -5% tomorrow). Thats why I asked... but these are some dark times indeed. Anything can happen. The only thing I doubt will happen is getting any better any soon

It's not getting better any time soon.

Do NOT buy the dip.

We've got a long way to go, but I think Trump will bottle it by... *checks watch* Friday.

Now that Asia's major stock markets are open we can take a look at where we are with the big falls we're seeing today:

  • Nikkei 225 (Japan) -6.3%
  • *Hang Seng (Hong Kong) -9.8%
  • *Shanghai Composite (mainland China) -6.6%
  • ASX 200 (Australia) -4.5%
  • Kospi (South Korea) -4.4%
  • *Taiex (Taiwan) -9.6%
  • STI (Singapore) -7.1%
  • Dow Jones Futures (US) -2%

*closed on Friday for public holidays

----

These are the opening scores.

There's a good few hours to go, folks.

NOTE: This isn't 'good' for Trump or America.

The question is does the stock market hit the breakers tomorrow.
Trump did say he wanted to undo all of Biden’s policy but did not think he was talking about economic growth and gains in the stock market

He's off his rocker more than I thought if he stands pat.

He'll fold.

Trump's a terrible businessman, but essentially a massive pussy with thin skin.

He'll withdraw every possible tariff he can possibly withdraw by Friday, but there will still be untold damage from the tariffs he cannot afford to withdraw per his ego.

It won't undo the damage or fix shit.

Aren't they already in effect? I thought the flat 10 percent was yesterday at midnight and the bigger tariffs on April 9?

Most of it's in effect, yes.

His admin is already saying "BUT 50 COUNTRIES HAVE COME TO THE TABLE" which is Idiot for: "we're going to start repealing tariffs ASAP and claim wins at the negotiating table".

They're bound to overlook some really fucking important trades though.
