Economy Trump's April 2nd Tariffs

Trump’s wild tariff tactics risk giving everyone a bad case of burnout

Trump did the same shit in the 90’s when he lost a billion dollars. He would pretend he was going to buy out a company, which drove up the share price and then sell the shares he bought at a profit. About the 4th time he did it , Wall Street caught on, Trump lost his ass and stopped doing it. This is going to happen to TACO’s tariff talk. Eventually Wall Street will treat Taco like Melania does and ignore him . Flip Flop Flump has too many Flip flops on Tariffs to be believed anymore

Weird how there are only two countries on the face of the earth right now that have retaliatory tariffs on the US. Canada and China, one is the US biggest adversary the other after being a dirty cunt trying to play both sides for 30 years is now looking to side with the adversary,

How big of flaming retard do you have to be to think I am blaming Canada for Trumps actions ? What I am blaming Canadian government for is using the situation to hold onto power at the expense of Canadians.

Instead of negotiating and coming to a deal we are playing hard ball and cozying up to communists, who are increasingly hollowing out our country.

Canada needs to work with Trump and strengthen our alliance and work through these problems. Not tell them to fuck off and go be butt buddies with Communist China. Unfortunately we have a communist government who admires basic dictatorship.

Negotiate with Trump LOL? Canada did negotiate with him on the USMCA and he's torn that up. What on earth did is Canada supposed to do here.

Canada already violated USMCA multiple times with tariffs and regulations before Trump even got back into office.

There are many things Canada could do, such as agree to roll back their own tariffs, strengthen the border, properly vet immigrants so less terrorists are crossing into the US route out Chinese interference (which threatens the sovereignty of both countries) Stop treating the US as if its an adversary....

If Canada was in no position to negotiate with Trump why was every other country on the face of the earth facing the same tariffs able to do so ?

Canada didn't because of Chinese influence.

No other countries are negotiating with trump. They are all just sitting back watching his decisions hurt himself more than them. And they've already seen him fold with China, so they know they're dealing with a soft little boy.

Any DISPUTES of the USMCA are ruled on by panel. These were disputes, not outright violations (at least not in the legal sense under the USMCA framework) as the parties went to the USMCA panel and the parties abided by the rulings.

As for the border, what are the specific terms that Canada can check off. Please be specific, not just "strengthen".

Trump is acting in mala fide here and everyone outside of his cult knows it.

Neither side has abided by USMCA and that is fact, something more concrete and fair to both sides is needed.

We can strengthen our border first by properly inspecting our ports and railway systems. Less than one percent of cargo in both sectors is properly screened. That is where drugs are coming into Canada and flowing into the US.

We need to hire a significant amount of new CBSA agents, who are NOT Chinese or Indian immigrants. These two groups are linked to nearly all of the documented cases of corruption within the border operations. You have Canadian authorities refusing to fully cooperate with american counterparts regarding security issues, bullshit like this pisses the US off. This needs to stop.

We need to actually lock up the drug traffickers we actually do catch instead of putting them on bail for the second, third or 25th time.

We need to invest in more monitoring of the open unmanned stretches of the border, where all you need to cross is some dark clothing and the willingness to walk through the bush.

We need to strengthen our criteria for who we let into the country and who we kicked out for breaking the law. Right now with our open door policy we attract nefarious types who will do nefarious things, without a proper screening process to weed these people out we are putting both nations at risk by letting so many in without doing the proper work.

Already breaking the law with this but Ok, how many non ethnically Chinese or Indian agents need to be hired. We need a number here so no goalposts are moved.

We need to actually lock up the drug traffickers we actually do catch instead of putting them on bail for the second, third or 25th time.

Ok, so life sentences for drug traffickers? Is that what I'm hearing? And for what amount of drugs.

We need to invest in more monitoring of the open unmanned stretches of the border, where all you need to cross is some dark clothing and the willingness to walk through the bush.
How much more, a concrete number here again so no goalposts can be moved.

Please be specific here, what criteria should Trump be asking for.

Who cares what Trump says to the media, what actually transpired is what matters. If it was such a great agreement neither the Canadians or the Americans would have gone against it.

Start with actually weeding out the corruption before you can start hiring new or you are going to be repeating the same problem.

It's illegal to discriminate based on race in the hiring process, it's not illegal to not hire people who have ties to adversarial governments for the sake of security. This same logic you are using or lack there of is exactly why we have let so many with ties to terrorist groups into Canada and the US. Look into Sam Coopers reporting on the matter if you need more clarification on corruption at the border, it is very well documented and sourced.

Asking me to give you an exact number is just playing games and deflecting from the actual issue as an exact number is irrelevant in comparison to acknowledging the problem in the first place.
Ok, so life sentences for drug traffickers? Is that what I'm hearing? And for what amount of drugs.
Nowhere did I say life sentences, the problem is no real sentence whatsoever, arresting people and having them out on bail the same day only for them to be back out committing the same crimes only encourages said crime to rapidly expand. We need concrete jail sentences.

If we are talking about Fentanyl, which is what this is really centered around, then I would support automatic hard time for any amount trafficked. I think suppliers and manufactures should absolutely get life sentences, death penalty if we had it.

Every time one of these batches is sent out people die. If you are involved in this you are a murderer and most likely have a body count higher than any serial killer ever in Canadian history. It's absolutely disgusting to give these people light sentences.

Easy, roll back every policy to what they were before 2015 when none of this was an issue.

LOL, They didn't go against "IT", they both disputed specific TRQ's that went to the USMCA panel and ruled on. The dairy dispute accounted for ~1.5% of the total agricultural trade the US had with CAN and MEX. I believe there were over 20 sectors in the USMCA so the dispute was extremely small in comparison to the entire agreement. Why do you think that an entire agreement should be thrown out because of a 1.5% dispute in 1 of the 20 sectors covered in the agreement?

Trump wasn't just lying to the media, he was addressing (and lying) to the workers at DANA incorporated in Michigan. So ya, who cares that Trump continues to lie and lie to everyone that votes for him... and for what reason would he actually lie about the agreement that he signed? If he really did think it was terrible why did Trump negotiate it and sign it?

Asking for a specific number is not playing games if Canada is supposed to act here.

Trump: I want security at the border tightened
Canada: Ok, we done this and this and this
Trump: Not enough
Canada: Ok, can you be specific on what we else need to do for these tariffs to be lifted
Trump: Stop playing games!
Canada: What? We need to know exactly what the terms are so we can act on them.

Nowhere did I say life sentences, the problem is no real sentence whatsoever, arresting people and having them out on bail the same day only for them to be back out committing the same crimes only encourages said crime to rapidly expand. We need concrete jail sentences.

And what are these "concrete jail sentences" and "hard time", Canada needs a number so they can enact them into policy.

Easy, roll back every policy to what they were before 2015 when none of this was an issue.

Okay there, something tangible. Why doesn't Trump have this in a list of deliverables for Canada in order to lift the tariffs?

You're even stupider than I originally thought if you think there is any deal to be made with the U.S government in the short-term, and that even if they were to arrive at some agreement, that the GoP would make good on their word. After all, they tore up the previous trade agreement Trump made with us calling it a terrible deal, in order to impose tariffs on us.

Carney understands both Trump’s psychology and his political playbook well enough to secure minor concessions by appealing to his ego. But Canada’s long-term economic stability depends on our ability to reduce dependence on the U.S. economy, regardless of who’s in the White House.

Remind me again how many countries have already made deals or concessions and dropped their own retaliatory tariffs and did so promptly ? EVERY SINGLE ONE EXCEPT FOR CHINA AND CANADA Do some basic research before you call people stupid.

Carney was supposed to be the guy to get a deal done with Trump. All he has succeed in doing is getting the steel and aluminum tariffs doubled. Some negotiator eh ?

If this situation was just entirely on the shoulders on Trump why has he not come down nearly as hard on any other country ?

The reality is that China has been using Canada as proxy to undermine the US for decades and this is yet another example of this, allowing this to happen puts the future of every Canadian at risk.

have they? lol

where are those 40 deals in 40 days?

The stupid fentanyl tariffs are still there despite us putting millions into reinforcing our borders and naming a fentanly tzar. We did everything they asked us to do, and those tariffs are still there. You're really a damn fool if you think there is anything we can do to remove the tariffs.

Why can't we the exact same strategy as the EU, UK, France, India, Mexico, Taiwan, Venezuala, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Switzerland, South Africa, Australia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand ? They all negotiated and got their tariffs reduced.

Right now there is only 2 countries in the world that have tariffs far beyond those 10% baseline tariffs.
Canadian MAGA is one of the weirdest things I’ve seen.
Nothing MAGA about trying to hold the corrupt liberal government accountable. If you don't do so you a failure of a citizen and the actually destructive force to the nation that you thing MAGA is.
Which fantasy world is that?
The real world. Melanie Jolie literally bragged about the point I just made as if its a good thing yesterday, in parliament, on camera, in front of the entire world. Get your head out of your ass
