Economy Trump vs. Musk

Not only that, but I distinctly remember many of them (even on this forum) stating that going solar / wind was "pointless" because "China's not going to do it, and they're the biggest polluters!"

And now China is kicking the shit out of us, and I'm betting they're now pivoting to "Well India's not going to do it..."

We knew China was investing before Covid, but I guess politically it was useful to pretend they wouldn't commit.

Yeah, liberals have been arguing for solar for decades but the conservatives didn’t want to because it was ghey to not spew pollution into the atmosphere.
One of the first things Jimmy Carter did as president was put solar panels on the roof of the White House , one of the first things Ronald Reagan did was take them off .

The right has been in the pocket of the oil industry for a very long time.

Trump’s threatening to deport Elon now.

To that I say: do it you fucking coward! However it plays out, it's bound to be funny.

EDIT: if the dems were the machivellian masterminds chuds thought they were (and I kinda lowkey wish they were), they'd pretend to cozy up to Elon right now, make the 2026 midterms a bloodbath in their favor, impeach Trump, then send him and Elon both to forever jail.

*sigh*

A man can dream, can't he?

If it goes to that level, we will have chaos. Musk would spend billions attacking him.

Would he, though? It's not like taking on a business rival, and I think Musk has burned the bridge with the left. Not that the left isn't rife with hypocrites, but it would be kind of hard to embrace him, after they attacked him for so long, in particular over money he spends to influence politics.

I think Musk has kind of pigeonholed himself here.

My jaw dropped earlier when I saw one of the biggest magatards posting that earlier. I think I already know the next play in their book, and that is to pretend that this is somehow the dems fault. We all know that that’s straight stupid, but maggats really don’t give a shit about lying until they believe it’s actually true. They’re completely detached from reality at this point

If true, makes me think less of Reagan, it’s kind of idiotic to do

Sadly it is but it's much worse than that

The Carter administration set a goal of deriving 20 percent of U.S. energy needs from such renewable sources by the turn of the century. Today, the U.S. gets a mere 7 percent of its energy from renewables, the bulk of that from the massive hydroelectric dams constructed in the middle of the 20th century. Solar thermal and photovoltaic technology combined provide less than 0.1 percent.

By 1986, the Reagan administration had gutted the research and development budgets for renewable energy at the then-fledgling U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) and eliminated tax breaks for the deployment of wind turbines and solar technologies—

The article is a bit old , today the US is at 21% of energy from renewables, 3.9 from solar

The more you look into the Reagan years the worse he looks , for instance the air traffic control network has never recovered from his fuckery

It was a different time then Reagan was not in real position to change much unlike Trump who reversed every Biden clean energy act that was in place in this time and we were ahead of mostly everyone in the race for renewable and clean less costly energy where we were less dependent on oother countries, the fact energy costs themselves will go up bc of the Canadian fall out is comical when the cult members cheer him for isolating ourselves from the NATO Allie’s in this ridiculous trade war he created .

Canada has also imposed 25% tax increases with the energy exports to here in some states wising coal, gas oil etc etc is going backwards relying on them Reagan increased the national debt but he had a positive economy while Trump managed to go negative numbers when handed a positive one from Biden twice .

I don’t think there’s really a comparison, Reagan had to deal with the Cold War and rising new viruses he had real problems, Trump creates them then acts like he’s fixing them , huge difference .
