Well the plan would probably more centered around preparing the party for midterms and 2028, but both Trump and Musk can still capitalize on the social media engagement.

If you’re a Republican in a battleground state and trending down for midterms, Elon has opened the door to take a stance against Trump to try to regain voters.

Or if you’re a potential 2028 candidate, you can take this opportunity to split from Trump now, and you’ll have better chances at pulling moderates in the general election. Whoever wins (let’s be real, it won’t be a Democrat that wins, that party is in even more shambles) will have legs to stand on when trying to ameliorate the rest of the world after Trumps disastrous foreign policy decisions.
