Elections Trump to concentrate migrants in guantanimo bay

Well, technically, it's the future Gulf of America, but yes, a pretty large body of water.

I suppose if this administration is going to send people away off country until they're processed, this facility is as good as any. My main concern is that it being 'off' the continental USA and at a private military site, there is no real way for oversight or anyway to tell what their conditions are like, as opposed to being somewhere in the states and more accessible. I think this place should only be reserved for anyone who has committed crimes in the US (not including coming into the country illegally) i.e. gang members/murderers etc. I believe that would send a clear message to those sorts of people.

It doesn't seem to me that Trump or his supporters have a goddamn clue or care about the logistical cost of things.

sounds like a great way to manage the deportation process.

from the article:

"The US has maintained a migrant detention facility there for decades that is separate from the notorious high-security jail for foreign terror suspects, including alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed..."

"We have 30,000 beds in Guantanamo to detain the worst criminal illegal aliens threatening the American people. Some of them are so bad we don’t even trust the countries to hold them, because we don’t want them coming back,” Trump said. “So we’re going to send them out to Guantanamo. This will double our capacity immediately, right? And tough. That’s a tough – that’s a tough place to get out of.”

Well yeah, he promised it and then they ragged on him for not keeping his promise, while they also blocked any efforts to close it.

He issued an EO in 2009, which of course they clutched pearls over. Now they don't have a thing to say about EOs, even blatantly illegal and unconstitutional ones.
Executive orders are what they are. Politicians playing games imo.

I work in logistics and this is one of the most basic concepts.

Don't move the freight twice.
Same. I'll be entering my 30th year in the industry this May.

You say that, but I've booked the same freight with two different freight forwarders on the same vessel. Kind of an awkward situation when they figured that out.

Lame I thought they were going to send the cartel members there.

Confirmed.

Hes putting the criminal illegals in Gauntanamo whose country won't accept them back . What should he do? Put in our prisons to cost money and infect or send to G bay. If your illegal n come here to commit crimes fuck you n your "rights"

But the left will cry rivers over these people. Not that they care they just keep taking L after L n need any straw can grasp. And a chsnce to fake outrage is never missed
If they're criminals why shouldn't they be processed in the criminal justice system? Isn't that what its for?

That's probably one of the main motivations behind this decision, to avoid oversight and accountability. It would be in line with other decisions like the firing of a bunch of Inspector Generals overnight.

I think it would be fair to say that most people have no clue about the cost of logistics period.
I think it would be fair to say we should hold the POTUS and his admin to a higher standard than we should the average person to include knowledge of relevant logistics in such decisions.

For sure, but this decision isn't necessarily this admins lack of awareness of the cost of logistics. To me it appears as you say, possible less oversight, but also a strong message towards criminals.

I think its a strong message that Trump is going to exercise maximum executive authority combined with a disdain for accountability and oversight from the other two branches of government and independent executive agencies, hence all the EOs as of late on all sorts of matters to include the hollowing out of the bureaucracies in favor of loyalists.

Why do you want to protect illegal gang members sent here by countries trying to get rid of them? And why would you care where the fuck they are sent, as they have come here to do us harm? Gangs are terrorists.

Honest question: is there any evidence that countries are sending criminals here, or is that just something Trump said that got picked up? Is there Any proof that national governments of foreign countries have actively participated in the act of expediting convicted criminals to the US?

Folks on the left speak out about human rights violations, regardless of who’s perpetrating them and against whom. Gitmo was used to house and torture people who never got a trial, never got a lawyer, things that in our nations founding documents are considered inalienable rights given by God to all men and women.

As for “gangs are terrorists” rhetoric- sure man, no argument here. But keep that same energy when gangs like the proud boys (god that name is hilarious), 3%ers, patriot front, oath keepers, or any of those hillbilly militia type start breaking laws and stirring up trouble.

I had a feeling something was being left out.
As long as it’s limited to illegal immigrants with violent criminal histories, I’m fine with it. They shouldn’t be here to begin with so the least they could is behave while they’re here.
