Fort Knox is the nearby army base. The gold is (supposedly) stored in the United States Bullion Depository. Also not all the US's gold is (supposedly) there.

If it were all stored in one place it could all be rendered radioactive and inaccessible in one fell swoop.



Edit: While we're at it, the USBD is not the biggest gold store in the World either. The Federal Reserve Bank Depository in NYC is. How about auditing that too?
