Elections Trump says he’d ‘want to hear’ foreign dirt on 2020 rivals

So many people ignorant of the point in trying to create a 'whataboutHillary' situation.

This about the laws as written and not how you think they should be.

There is nothing, NOTHING illegal in a campaign PAYING for Opposition Research on a political rival even using companies or foreign nationals who may work for those companies. Republican campaigns and Dem campaigns BOTH have used Fusion GPS and other such firms.

The law is broken when taking that 'thing of value' for free and not making it discoverable as a campaign contribution and additionally there is required expected disclosure if the information is coming from an identified hostile gov't.

Trump fails on both those tests. Hillary passes both of them.

What Trump did was wrong and criminal and what Hillary (and Republicans prior) did was not.

It’s messed up if you’re taking information and using it improperly. What Trump said was not politically smart - he should have just said “I’ll hand it over to the FBI straight away” but what was admitted in a hypothetical is way less than what the Dems did in 2016 and 2017 - can you admit that? And can you admit that this POTUS and his campaign was the subject of uncalled for surveillance and false attacks on his character and actions (whether or not you believe that he did bad stuff anyway)?

Hillary pays a for a fraudulent document manufactured by a foreign intelligence agent but people are mad about Trump being willing to accept real information from a foreign government? Hello leftist shitbag double standards.

Again your entire argument is based on a hypothetical scenario that didn’t happen n you insert your own interpretation how it could be “bad”

On the other hand steel dossier did happen n was used by government agencies to abuse their powers.

So you’re basically more upset by something that didn’t happen than by something that actually did

Trump is EVIL, he is willing to listen to information on an opponent from a foreign power willing to give it for free!

He needs to be like us good guys that pay a law firm $50,000 to pay a foreign spy to get it from our enemies instead so it can be used to start a criminal investigation to undermine the government without even verifying any of the information first!

Trump never got information from a foreign government, only spoke to it.

If the Fusion GPS information wasn't used to spy on Trump it wouldn't have been a big issue. But it was and it was never verified using the Woods Procedure as required by law to get a warrant. Instead a very illegal treasonous investigation was started and everyone involved knew it was illegal. Flynn will be confirming this in his testimony which he wouldn't have been able to reveal if he hadn't been charged.

Yeah, and?

What was the Steele dossier exactly?
Who initiated contact and why is pretty important. It's legal to hire a firm to do opposition research where their investigators have contacts that are in other governments. They may get paid for turning over information but that's all an investigator can offer

On the other hand if a foreign government contacts the U.S. (specifically a president) and offers information to help them win re-election not only it is illegal but it means they want something in return. Something that almost certainly is not in the best interest of the country. It also most likely means they used their spies on our presidential candidates

Opposition research may be unseemly but it's not even in the same ballpark of a foreign adversary reaching out to make a back room deal

These leaders have relationships with each other. They speak. When humans speak, they speak about other people, and things relevant to the moment. Trump indicated that he would report anything "bad" to the FBI. He was honest, and he's paying the price. I couldn't give a shit less about a president listening to gossip about any other person on earth.. I might care about how the information was used, which is of course all there is to care about.

Everyone wants dirt on their opponent. Its dumb that we're actually acting shocked that someone would say so.

Our founding fathers would read a sentiment such as yours and puke at the anti-American nature of it.

You guys are cult members, and not even a politician getting dirt from a hostile nation to attack an American political opponent is even wrong, much less anti-American to you guys.

Sell yourself to a conman who says he loves America, and you might betray American values, which is something you people talk of endlessly.

Refrain from directly referring to fellow posters as "fucking idiots"

Listen to this fucking idiot...information is only illegal if its given for free...

No. It is not.

It isnt illegal for a campaign to pay for it.
It isnt illegal for a person to sit and listen to it.

It should, however, be illegal for you to be that stupid.

Yeah, well, its 2019. Are we pretending politicians don't like dirt on their opponents because we're talking about Trump? Are we actually acting as though this isn't par for the course?

They all like dirt, but they don't take it from foreign entities and intelligence services. Trump opened and welcomed such interference. His administration has done absolutely nothing about preventing further interference, and has hamstrung any and all efforts to fully investigate said meddling.

Trump also has Mitch Mcconnell in the Senate, blocking things like legislation for upgrading of polling machines and requiring politicians to report illegal information given to them by foreign entities.

There's dirt, then there is this shit. You're supporting the anti-American side here, bro. Republicans ripped Bill Clinton for accidentally receiving foreign dirt, and here Trump is openly welcoming it after a breach in the election that got him elected to bitch-like equivocation and crickets.

'wanting' and a willingness to break the law to get it are different things. One should be shocking and the other not.

If the Dem candidate in the next election said "China, are you listening, you don't like this Trump guy, so give us what you got' and China then unloaded a Boat load of intel and hacked certain key info from Trump and Co I think all Americans should not be happy with that.

or are you ok with every election being potentially affected by foreign adversarial nations?

So you actually dont know the question that was asked of Trump and are here just shit-posting because you are a low-brow twat.

Congrats.

If you think anything in this world is free you're the twat mate.

According to Trump. But that's the guy proclaiming he has no business deals with Russia while trying to make a deal.

You left out the part about it being a contact from a foreign power that wanted to help your campaign.

I'll take the words of the Federal Elections Chair over anything that comes out of your retarded mouth.

FEC chair lays down the law on foreign help

“Let me make something 100% clear to the American public and anyone running for public office: It is illegal for any person to solicit, accept, or receive anything of value from a foreign national in connection with a U.S. election,“ wrote Ellen Weintraub, chairwoman of the FEC. “This is not a novel concept.“...

...

“Anyone who solicits or accepts foreign assistance risks being on the wrong end of a federal investigation,” she said in her statement. “Any political campaign that receives an offer of a prohibited donation from a foreign source should report that offer to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”...

...

“I would not have thought that I needed to say this.“...

...but then she never imagined people as stupid as you.

Who else are you aware of that has received help from a foreign power?

You're full of shit.
And stupid. Don't forget, he's stupid.

Campaign Finance laws very purposely ensure that any 'in kind' type of donations to a campaign must be declared just so people or groups cannot get around by saying 'here, here is this thing you would usually pay big money for, free'. it would be the easiest way for groups to get around campaign contributions if they instead could just give things the campaign needed for free. Opo Research is a thing of real value. Campaigns all pay big money for it. That is established. Getting free Opo Research is an in kind contribution that must be disclosed. Period. If its offered to you from an adversarial gov't you must report it immediately to the FBI.

Also, you only think everything has a cost because of all those men that came to your home and gave your mum money...

The question "Somebody comes up and says, ‘hey, I have information on your opponent,' do you call the FBI?"

Nothing in the question was about someone saying they had info they would give if they pay him so congrats you retarded cuck on injecting shit into it. Low-brow bottom-feeding soyboy...

So you are agreeing the Clinton Campaign and all those involved in paying for and accepting the Trump Dossier should be in prison?

Congrats fuckwit, you took the bait...Trump didnt accept information from anyone, he said he would. SAID. The Clinton campaign DID ACCEPT AND PAID FOR IT WHICH IS SOLICITING. Fucking moron...lol...you proved my point but are too stupid to realize it because you got distracted easily. Hook, line, sinker, fool.
