Trump on anti-Semitic attacks: 'Sometimes it's the reverse'

Agreed he doesn't know how to talk to people who want to hear a president talk "properly". Frankly he's right though and these attacks and stuff that happen and no one knows who did it but they get so much online publicity have a habit of being straight up lies.

I personally don't care to much about the way he talks but I'm fed up with presidents just saying what I want to hear and how I want to hear it. It just sounds so fake and disingenuous at this point that it's almost insulting. Just tell me what you think and lets go from there. Unfortunately for Trump he don't speak to good.
Frankly? If we're going by frankness, he becomes less right. That's being less honest and direct. Honest and direct is finding out what happened and who did it. I don't want him to "talk about" it at all, unless he's offering generic condolence/pledging to investigate.

I'm saying he should DO. You, on the other hand, appreciate the TALK. And less direct and honest talk, at that.

How is that related to this subject? But since you wanted to make that comparison, did you agree with the president commenting on police shootings before any evidence was found?

Because you're complaining about presidents talking about a subject without evidence

Obama was wrong to talk before there was evidence on the police shooting

However there have been many "anti-Semitic hate crimes" disproven, so trump isn't really talking without evidence, he didn't speak to a certain case

Yeah, it was one of many gems from this election cylce. You ended up looking pretty darned good at the end of it too.

This is a useful resource I found from that thread.

People in this thread should give it a look see.

The amount of fremdscham I experience skimming through that site is unbearable.

How can you go on after being caught writing racial slurs on your own property, and burning down your own belongings? Especially a white guy writing black slurs on his own house. Ugh.

Regardless if it is possible that Jews could be the perpetrators of these attacks, he's the fucking President, he shouldn't say anything of the sort until an actual investigation has concluded and there's evidence pointing towards the culprits.

Depends on the context. Was it a public statement or just something in private conversation/discussion?

In the OP it says "According to reports, Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro said Trump indicated.."

Not much to go on there.

There have obviously been fake politically motivated occurrences as part of political activism so it's part of any equation when looking at a whole, but public perception should matter more when they are public statements.

According to reports, Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro said Trump indicated that the recent wave of anti-Semitic threats might have come from "the reverse" to "make others look bad." Shapiro was one of the attorney generals who met with the president in Washington on Tuesday.

Trump can be his own worse enemy sometimes. I really think this isn't a worthwhile direction to take. Just keep the answers simple and don't make more trouble/controversy for controversies sake.

What does that mean "reverse"? like this is a rouse and and Jews are doing it, or it is like revenge for something the jews did?

According to the ADL, Ben Shapiro is the #1 target for anti-semitism on the internet, but he also has never blocked anyone on twitter

There's a lot of things I think he's annoying about, but he doesn't rustle easy
Hm I think for someone who basically makes a living talking about the absurdity of trigger warnings he seems to engage in angry tweet storms pretty often, especially when somebody voices an opinion on the Israel-Palestine conflict he doesn't like.

It's not the first time he says something like this. He said this at a news conference:

And some of it — can I be honest with you? And this has to do with racism and horrible things that are put up. Some of it written by our opponents. You do know that. Do you understand that? You don’t think anybody would do a thing like that. Some of the signs you’ll see are not put up by the people that love or like Donald Trump, they’re put up by the other side, and you think it’s like playing it straight?

No. But you have some of those signs and some of that anger is caused by the other side. They’ll do signs, and they’ll do drawings that are inappropriate. It won’t be my people. It will be the people on the other side to anger people like you. Okay.

It's pretty obvious that ever little thing Trump says is going to be taken in the worst possible ways for the next 8 years.

I don't see anything wrong with the above statement (reading it out of context), and personally I think people should be aware that false flags do happen as part of political activism.

Trump needs to be very careful saying anything about Jewish activism of this sort though, due to their large political network and attack dogs.

There's nothing wrong with pointing out the obvious, but I think we can expect Trump to live out his presidency with his foot in his mouth, as that's kind of his M.O., so I don't think Trump is going to heed your advice. Trump is always saying stupid things, but this is not one of them. Try getting that perspective across to those that are comparing him to Hitler, though.

You rarely take a position on anything that your feet can be held to, so I'll mark this one up happily.

It wasn't stupid for Trump to react to the vandalism and harassment by suggesting it was a Jewish false flag.

That's going on your headstone.

Yeah, that's an honest interpretation. This is precisely the kind of uncharitableness that's giving Trump a second term.

It's basically a game. That's the way I look at it. Generating outrage over things is an art and a science and I think the people who work in those positions just view it as a job. Not personal.

Sometimes I think it would be fun in a devious sort of way.

Maybe it was Milo Yolonapolis who needed to vent his frustration after being fired by Breitbart.

Edited to the top for everyone reading this thread to take a gander at: http://fakehatecrimes.org/

It’s a stupid thing to say because he will get eaten alive for it but, frankly, we’ve had plenty of people in this very forum salivating any time some supposed pro-Trump violence happens and are there shouting to the rafters and pointing fingers – and a fair bit of that violence ends up being false flags. Frankly, there is some serious egg on the faces of a lot of people here because they spent weeks mocking people who said “You know guys, this could be a false flag…” (not me, by the way – I was smart enough to keep out of these threads entirely) and then they did turn out to be false flags. I’m sure someone here will post the thread of the church burning for us to review because something tell something tells me a lot of people here didn’t learn a lesson from that.

Our closed minded, partisan driven inability to admit that a false flag is a *very* easy and powerful tool to use in an age of viral news on social media is just that – partisan hackery. But still, when it scores points for our team, we *rush* to laugh and jeer and point fingers at the other team every time something happens that makes the other side look bad – and in doing so, we give false flag smear jobs their power. I’m looking at you asshats in the forum who rush to judgement every time some hoax springs up smearing the side you don’t like and you’re quick to spread it, never even considering the possibility that it is a hoax, and ardently mocking those who step back and say “Guys, let’s wait until they know who did it – it could be a false flag…”

Remember this?

"As firefighters neared the historically black church Tuesday night in Greenville, Miss., they saw flames in the windows and smoke pouring from the roof.

When they got closer, they could see two words spray-painted on the side of the burning sanctuary: “Vote Trump.”"

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...church-in-mississippi/?utm_term=.d71101a9b486

And then this?

"JACKSON, Miss. – A Mississippi man arrested in the burning of an African-American church that was spray-painted with the words "Vote Trump" is a member of the congregation, the church's bishop said.

Andrew McClinton, 45, of Leland, Mississippi, was charged Wednesday with first degree arson of a place of worship, said Warren Strain, spokesman for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety. McClinton is African-American.

McClinton was arrested in Greenville, where Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church was burned and vandalized Nov. 1, a week before the presidential election."

But yeah, quick - make sure you're the first to virtue signal and make a few cutting quips about how it couldn't *possibly* be the guys who are playing victim now who are doing some of this stuff. Just ignore how powerful and easy a tool it is to cry victim about something you yourself did while pointing a finger at someone you don't like...

Edit: Found our own thread on it.

Does anyone remember when it was when @HomerThompson turned into an utter shitposter? I actually used to like the guy...

Agreed, but when it's too transparent it has the opposite effect.

It's the major leagues of trolling. The pros dance that fine line with expert precision, but sometimes they get cocky or careless and overstep.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA... What a sorry attempt at grandstanding.
