From what I've read this whole "minerals deal" is just a pipe dream. Most likely amounts to nothing substantial and will probably go the same way as the Iran nuclear deal at the hands of another U.S. president.

Just a way for Trump to make it seem to his domestic audience as if he got something out of this mess.

It's stupid bullshit only people detached from reality would fall for.

It will take decades to see any benefit before Ukraine reaches a state that any resources can be extracted. Not even getting into the development of the mines themselves.

Ukraine can just say yes and keep getting weapons to kill Russians. Trump will be long dead and the deal forgotten before anything comes out of the ground. There's really no point either, the US has massive mineral reserves and it's much more logistically feasible and beneficial to our own people to develope our own reserves in our own country rather than ship them from across the world. There's been huge discoveries of lithium and other rare earth minerals over the last few years right here in America.
