Can't say I've been following Trump since he was voted out, so I didn't even realise he was arguing he had blanket immunity from prosecution as a former president until I just saw a headline.

I always presumed it was a minority of Americans that outright wanted a dictator to enforce their political will on those that disagree with them, but Trump still has supporters. That's shameful.

Al Green arrived straight from the hospital in a wheelchair and scrubs to make what would be the deciding vote.

Johnson and House Republicans were infuriated by Green's presence at the vote, and apparently had not counted on this possibility. In fact, the vote was planned with Green's absence in mind. Speaker Johnson planned the vote for Tuesday because he thought the Democrats would be down a vote while Green was in surgery.
In other words, Johnson, in the most ghoulish way imaginable, tried to exploit a member of Congress's emergency surgery in order to pull a political stunt in the House of Representatives. Johnathan Mitchell (Argued in front of Scotus 5 times previously) on Trump's behalf vs two CO lawyers that have never argued in front of SCOTUS (Jason Murray and Co Solicitor General Shannon Stevenson).

I dunno, it's either kick Trump off the ballot, or Kick out the 14th amendment. It seems like a pretty easy decision, but with the make up of the Supreme court, I expect fuckery.

The law is on CO's side, but Trump has a better attorney, and a majority of Scotus on the payroll.

However it goes, it will be monumental. (probably).

My worry is that Scotus will punt it.. something like "We don't have the authority to make this decision".... when they very obviously DO.
