Claiming Trump is running away with the election before election day is nothing more than a means to dispute the results no matter what they are. If he loses close, they're gonna say it's rigged because he was "ahead in all the polls" (which he keeps repeating)...if he gets crushed in a landslide (there is evidence of registered early voters that this is a possibility), they're gonna say that's impossible because he was ahead in all the polls.

Now, of course if he was massively down in all the polls this entire time they'd still say the polls were fixed against him. But 538 (who is guilty of poll herding) openly saying there is poll-herding going on is a huge red flag.

Not always, people could also think there's no point to voting. In fact anything that makes them think that is highly effective at reducing turnout. I saw a Statement yesterday that Texas isnt a Red State, it's a non-voting State considering that at best only about 45% of the eligible electorate actually votes. And then when you poll people by what policies they favor, they're not the kinds put forth by the people who get into power there. Keeping voter turnout low, purging the registries, removing means of making voting easier, those are classic Republican tactics.
