Seems like he was criminally investigated and charges weren't filed. Of course "beyond a reasonable doubt" is a very high standard of proof. House Ethics Committee investigated him as well and we might never get the findings of that investigation.

Attorney General of the US isn't a fucking job at Walmart where only an actual felony conviction might preclude you from being hired. There should be a higher standard. One of the allegations the ethics committee was investigating was him giving political favors so it's possible that he would "tollerate" a frivolous investigation.

Look at what he was being investigated for.

He hung out with an adult female that had previously been paid to have sex with a 3rd party's friends. It's unclear if she was a minor during this time, but thus was before Gaetz knew her.

The 3rd party guy was some accountant in Florida government or some shit that allegedly was an acquaintance of Gaetz at one time.

This is a witchhunt by McCarthy after gaetz got him removed as speaker.

And by not even bothering to press charges its an admittion they had nothing that would stick, and probably be thrown out by a reasonable judge.

Prosecutors don't want that on their record.

You totally missing the point is not a surprising development. Having an AG that isn't a convicted criminal, but has consistently been investigated for being a piece of shit isn't really something to hang your hat on.

This was the appointment I was most concerned about, and I was surprised we didn't get a hardline global warming denialist type. He's still bad on the environment, but I know our policies aren't going to prioritize taking care of the environment or nature for the next four years. Trump cares only about stock markets when it comes to this. So his administration will be bad on it. It's unfortunate, but with any particular President, you get some stuff you want, and others you don't.

I truly hope that at least they will be pragmatic in handling clean water issues. I know more abstruse scientific warning signs will be ignored, such as those already rolling in that point to an imminent disaster with the coral reef that could happen in our lifetime, it's terrifying, but at least maybe the Republicans will please, please, please, please take a more aggressive, more assertive government approach to ensuring clean water infrastructure to urban Americans.

I agree about water, oh I don't know the numbers of how many cities you can't drink the tap water. Which adds to people ingesting plastics. That would be a hugely popular project to restore good drinking water to all citizens.

He’s definitely unhinged. It would be great if his supporters could have the realization that picks like this don’t “own the libs” in any way, they just fuck the country up.

I think you’re being very generous here with your assessments. I know you guys like Tulsi, for example, but even she has basically ho qualifications for this role.
Under federal law, she is supposed to have “extensive national security expertise.” She has none.
Under “normal circumstances” (that’s the phrase the law uses), she should be “ an active-duty commissioned officer in the armed forces or have training or experience in military intelligence activities and requirements.” She is neither.

She has some time on congressional committees, and literally 0 time spent in the intelligence community. And yet by Trump standards she’s one of the better picks we’ve seen.
