International Trump administration poised to accept 'palace in the sky' as a gift for Trump from Qatar

Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.

Saudi Arabia slammed the gift by Qatar and could be hugely problematic for any deals with Saudi Arabia and possibly UAE. I did not know about Saudi Arabia stand on Qatar.

Oh even Laura had something to say about it.

- Laura is such a hypocrity. Like Isreal is any diferent than those jihadists. Also US has done several atrocities around the globe, Atomic bomb, suporting Gaza genocide rings a bell?

Lol at fake moral standing!<lol>

I think it's a bad idea he accepts this. Qatar is such a weird political element too, I didn't mind living there, their airlines are nice, but they are shady as hell. I don't get how they got to host the FIFA cup.

Money makes the world go round still

Saudi and Qatar rivalry is underplayed in geopolitical reporting

that whole 'leader of the arab world' thing is a prestige crown to them

Qatar supports the muslim brotherhood whom the Saudis loathe and fear

i'd say this was an odd move for Trump, if it weren't for the fact that he is a cxhild who loves gifts and shiny things, so not odd at all, he'd have taken this from the fucken Taliban if they'd offered

Especially a gift like a plane to be used as Air Force One. Obviously our government will inspect the thing and install features and whatnot, but conducting a lot of our nation’s most important business on an aircraft gifted to us by a foreign government just seems incredibly stupid.

I agree, I believe the president discuss and works on all kinds of classifications on there. Especially if there is a emergency it would be really stupid for him to actually use it as AF1. Sure they can sweep it but I wouldn't trust.

I'm sure the secret service would examine every square inch of that plane before Trump even got within a mile of it.

it's very very hard to inspect everything, especially something as large and intricate and complex with advanced avionics systems, as a Boeing 747.

When embassies are made vacant and picked up by another country, the standard procedure is to level the building and rebuild so to get rid of any potential listening devices and spyware.

LOL. Not bribery.

<YeahOKJen>

And even if we set aside the obvious and flagrant bribery, knowing he intends to use the plane as Air Force 1 I'm sure there's no embedded listening devices anywhere on the aircraft.

I don't like the idea of it going to his library at the end of his term. It should go to the White house to be used by all presidents after his term. Also I hope he has the secret service scan every thing on it down to the last detail.

All in all I think the whole thing is not a good idea.

Beside the AF1 he gets to use... that idiot doesn't have his own plane already?

The US probably wastes $400m by breakfast, and how can it be too hard to just build a new plane at home by them hard-working Americans earning a living wage? They'd basically have to completely disassemble the entire bribe plane and rebuild it anyways just to ensure it's safe and secure, might as well just build a new one.

Although, the more Trump flies, the more likely he could be involved in an aviation disaster... so there's that.
